E+ members receive two upgrade vouchers per membership year that can be used as system-wide upgrades. Vouchers are not delivered to E+ status holders in physical or electronic form and only exist on the screens of TK agents.

It is advisable to call TK to verify the number of vouchers you have prior to and after the upgrade (unless you have no vouchers left).

Upgrades are done by calling TK CS or a local TK office (by phone or email).

One voucher is needed to upgrade per direction. For example, the itinerary LHR-IST-BKK will need one voucher to upgrade, and the itinerary LHR-IST-BKK-IST-LHR will need two vouchers. If an agent tells you otherwise, HUCA.

How to find itineraries with availability for a voucher upgrade?
Find an itinerary in any class in Y that has 4 seats left in J booking class on the same itinerary as the Y. To be extra cautious, you may also check the individual legs (when applicable) for 4 seats left in J booking class. For example, for the itinerary LHR-IST-BKK, check at least that LHR-IST-BKK has 4 seats left in J booking class, and in addition, check LHR-IST and IST-BKK individually too.

You can no longer check for upgrade availability without having an e-ticket number.

A relatively low-risk method of proceeding is therefore...

1) Reserve a ticket online with TK but don't pay for the ticket yet. Just put it on hold for 48 hours for free for E+ members.
2) Book an economy class ticket on the same itinerary with a reputable USA-based OTA that offers a 24-hour cooling-off / full refund period.
3) Once you have received your e-ticket number, go to Manage Booking on the TK website and check if TK has offered a business upgrade with miles for your intineray. Any segment eligible for an upgrade with miles on the website is also eligible for an upgrade with E+ vouchers.
4) Another option would be to call TK CS and ask an agent to check if the ticket in (2) is upgradeable with your vouchers. Do not upgrade this ticket; just check.
5) Once availability is confirmed for your itinerary, pay for the ticket in (1). Upon payment and ticketing, call TK CS to ask an agent to upgrade this ticket.
6) Cancel for free the ticket in (2).

Another even lower-risk method would be to skip (1) and just upgrade the ticket in (2). If unsuccessful with the E+ upgrade, you can proceed to cancel your economy ticket within the 24-hour cooling-off period. Going with this route, you would then have to be in contact with the OTA and not TK in cases of schedule change, cancellation, or IRROP, which is not usually advisable unless you really have to.

You might be asked to enter a PIN number via an automatic system to access your vouchers; this is the PIN you use to log on to your TK M&S account.

When did that happen? I booked a JFK-IST-CMN round-trip and upgraded it with vouchers and points in July.

I read that as well. But it is something that has yet to filter through to TK agents here in the UK, and isn't reflected in the airlines booking inventory.

The only confirmation that the J upgrade has been done is a re-validated ticket to J class, a confimation email which to be sented by after it is done. If having this email, then it is done. Having J4 availability, J class in your booking and possibility to select the J seats does not mean anything, those can be done by sales office. Ticket re-validation release permission is given only from THY HQ to sales office. My experience in August and information from THY.

I am wondering, if they waitlist me (which they have offered), what are the odds of space opening up? Also, could a local office (I’m thinking of the one I have an established rapport with) force a seat? They did that once 4 or so years ago, although in a very different scenario (it was a Z fare-seat which I had received as compensation for an overbooking, and it was 11 months ahead of travel time).

I'm looking for additional DPs on how far ahead you can upgrade (if there's J available for such), AFAIK, it's less than the usual 355 days in TK's reservation system. I could no longer find the post regarding such discussed earlier.

Pre-COVID, you could have upgraded any flights anytime after booking ( 355 days before the flight until departure ).
I am not sure about the current process as we don't have enough first-hand experience reports for the usage of ELPL vouchers after August 2020.

This year I wanted to use my vouchers for my trip to Bangkok, the flights were canceled due to corona.

I don’t want to take the risk of an open ticket, nobody knows if when I rebook the ticket what will be the result. J class or economy? So I choose a full refund. Vouchers was two days later back in my account.

Since my voucher expire end of the year, elite line tells me the vouchers will not be extended, I book a flight from Frankfurt to Istanbul via website and call the elite line to upgrade my flights with my vouchers. J class was available and my flights are upgraded to J now.

So in my case upgrade was possible as it was before COVID.

I know it is a very bad ratio for the vouchers but better than nothing.

It is really unfortunate that the vouchers are not extended as well!

ISTFlyer Maybe you have other news about the ELPL vouchers?

Sorry, I don’t have any other information. That’s why I am trying to encourage people share their experiences.

My current ELPL vouchers would expire in 2022 so I have no interest using them this year.

i did exactly the same thing (chose a different new destination though) - same process as before.
I am still a bit suspicious how TK will deal with the inevitable schedule change or flight cancellation
until my new departure date - if this requires visits to sales offices, calls to hotlines, I will probably ditch ELPL as the effort to use the vouchers (and keep them on the booking after a schedule change or cancellation!) isn't really worth it.

With an extra 18 months of E+, you have lots of time to change your mind!

I know people were at different stages in their renewal cycle and might not have even wanted the extension, but as it stands I have *G until at least November 2026. I can't imagine any other *A programme being more generous than that.

But if medium term it remains too messy to use E+ vouchers, well I have every expectation that Business Class fares (although not necessarily on TK) will be rather cheap for awhile...

Haha yes that is true... and having already re-qualified, I now have ELPL until 12/2023... :-D

I agree... And while I generally appreciate the upgrade vouchers, their value is significantly reduced due to the convoluted process to use them. For comparison, I just redeemed my GUF2 voucher on British Airways - you can see the vouchers online in your account (no need to ask via Feedback Form), you can apply them online and you can be sure that you will actually end up in the upgraded cabin. With the TK vouchers, there is the hassle to 1) use them (at first, one agent told me I need 4 vouchers to upgrade a return trip - I HUCA'd and got a more knowledgeable agent), 2) keep them on the booking (in case of a schedule change or cancellation) and 3) I always feel a bit of anxiety if I will actually end up in business. It may sound stange, but I do not want to fly economy. So if I cannot be sure that I will actually end up in business, the ELPL vouchers are worthless for me...

I have just managed to upgrade my two outbound flights (LHR-KGL) next week with a voucher today. I did get the usual claim that there were no vouchers when I called earlier in the week. Feedback sorted that one. So usual service on the vouchers from what I can see. I was also told the next vouchers will arrive on 1st January.

I upgraded flights to Kuala Lumpur far into next year, when things will be rosy again (). I did it at a sales office, where they could see only two vouchers ... although the call centre, and logic, say I have four. Hey ho.

The office knew nothing about any change in how vouchers can be applied. Maybe the report we received was a one-off, or a short-term intervention.

Last visited this thread a few years ago, and I am a bit confused about the description in the WIKI.
Is it not correct that (still) the Elite+ upgrade vouchers are using J class, which means if I can find J class availability on all flights legs on Expertflyer, then I should be good to go and book in economy, for upgrade?

For me it was always upgrade to J class indeed. But I would not still risk the chances, as TK IT system is not the greatest.
And for unknown to me reasons, TK call center cannot advise upfront on the voucher applicability, they must have a ticket number to check...

I usually book TK economy for the required flights and dates in Orbitz US site where you can cancel the booking free within 24h. Then I do another booking on TK website and keep it under EP free price guarantee.

Then I call TK and check if the issued Orbitz ticket is valid for upgrade. If yes, I immediately enter my credit card details and issue the real TK ticket, and ask them to upgrade right away.

After that is done, I cancel Orbitz ticket.

Complicated. But given only the 2 EP vouchers a year, worth the effort...
