Really? Why? I get checking the passport, but why the sticker?

A NEXUS agent I talked to on the phone thought the passport had to be presented at an Enrollment Centre, but then wavered when I mentioned GE. I called GOES to confirm, and they said the "system" is designed to be self-updated by the member. The GE guy confirmed it. The reasons I had to go in were because I needed the sticker and because I wanted it in the system the same day the passport was issued.

Just went through SFO with a brand new passport that I had self-updated on GOES a few days before, and had not been able to get the sticker before departure. No issues whatsoever.
Saved me a ridiculous amount of time again, having just arrived behind 3-4 transpac arrivals.

Would love to be able to register. I use IRIS going in and out of the UK and when I lived in Hong Kong, I was able to us the automated entry channels there. However ...... as a US resident that is not either a citizen or a green-card holder, Global Entry isn't open to me. There has been some talk of opening eligibility up further but I'd have to assume that with the current level of paranoia in the US, that ain't likely to happen any time soon.

Global Entry
I have had a Nexus card for years. Last week I received a postcard notifying me I was eligible for the Global Entry program. Went to the website indicated, signed up and received e-mail confirmation membership immediately. Can't wait to use it.

r me.
