I had a an interesting immigration experience at CBP last month. No questions about why I was gone, or what I was bringing. Instead the whole time the CBP officer was processing my passport he was telling me how nice Global Entry was and how it would save me a lot of time. Some nice front line sales work by CBP there.

Correct -- GOES is just the online system used to manage your trusted traveler accounts.

I have a SENTRI pass since I live in San Diego and travel frequently down to Tijuana. Being approved for SENTRI, I was "pre-approved" for Global Entry according to the information in my GOES account.

I applied for Global Entry on a Tuesday at 10 AM (rough estimate) via GOES and was approved by 10:30 AM -- no appointment, interview, etc. required since I was already a SENTRI member. There was no charge for Global Entry since it matches up with your SENTRI account and is valid for ~5 years.

My ladyfriend is also setup with SENTRI/Global Entry as well as Nexus -- She applied for Nexus online through GOES and had an appointment at YYZ. Pretty sweet deal since she travels down to Mexico and Canada quite frequently since she works a Japanese electronics firm.

Is GOES a free addon for Nexus/Sentri Users? If this is the case, it begs to ask why Goes cost me $100 and then Nexus cost me another $50.
The extra $50 is for Canadian approval. If you have the Nexus/sentry cards, you already have US security approval - thus no fee needed as GOES is purely US.

The following is NOT the reason per US border:
As has been said before many times, GOES is not an add-on to anything. GOES is not a trusted traveler program. GOES is simply a web application system used for applying for various trusted traveler programs, including GlobalEntry, NEXUS, SENTRI, and FAST.

Had my interview at MIA 7 days ago and got my sticker in my passport. I was told that I would receive an email within 48 hrs, but to date I haven't received anything and when I log into GOES nothing is updated there.

I see many folks received their confirmation within hours of having the interview - is 7 days normal??

Usually you receive your email right after the officer takes your finger prints, photo, and enters your alternate ID info into the system. It sounds like you were fully approved... Perhaps you should call GOES Support..

Thanks - I called the Miami office - apparently my fingerprints came back as a "FAIL" and they need to take them again. Won't be back in Miami anytime soon and my next few trips are all either at weekends or when the GE offices are closed.

Will they let you visit another GE office to re-do your fingerprints? MCO has an office.

FYI, here is the list of GE offices:

Asked to see sticker for the first time

I have used GE a dozen or so times at JFK, IAD and SFO. This past Saturday I used it for the first time at ORD. Kiosks well-placed and process smooth. When I got to the CBP agent at customs and handed my printout she looked at my passport and asked where the sticker was. I showed her the sticker and she said "welcome home..." I haven't been asked for the sticker before, but this makes me think that when I get my new passport later this year I will not only update online but will also pop into the office at JFK and get a sticker in my new passport...

I was asked the same thing at ORD a couple of weeks ago. Only looked to see the sticker, not at the details. Have to hope the sticker doesn't wear off in the next 5 years.

Thanks for the list - I couldn't find the opening times so that is useful. They will let me visit another GE center - I then have to call Miami once the fingerprints have been re-taken.

So making no progress. Any one else has ideas on what to do? I am scheduled to travel to YYZ/YOW/YUL later next week. Should i delay by travel until GE is approved or it is still ok to travel with my passport etc.
Thanks.

After applying 4/2 received conditional approval today 5/17. Interview 5/20 at ORD.

Thanks.

When you get your new passport I believe you have to go in to register it into the system anyway. It's not automatically entered when you renew.

It's been reported a few times in this thread... ORD seems to be the only place doing this. Not sure of the point, but it's an easy enough thing to do. (And as mentioned, you need to take your new passport in anyway to be registered.) Cheers.

Global Entry - HELP Needed

I am writing an article about the Global Entry program for a New York City newspaper. I am looking to do quick interviews with travelers who are registered with this program and who have used it at JFK...If you're based in New York and are a member of Global Entry, please contact me ASAP at [email protected]. Thanks!

Quick question..

When I go into GOES to apply for Global Entry, the Global Entry option is grayed out. I can only apply for Sentri and Nexus. Anyone else have this issue? I emailed the support to which I got generic response telling me what to click. Hard to do when it's grayed out =). I travel 4-6 times a year internationally so I'm very much interested in this program.
