Good luck. Just remember to keep checking the site after your approval to see if you can switch your time to an earlier one. On my 3rd time checking i saw one scheduled at the airport near me (which is usually a 3-6 month wait). Thank goodness for cancellations.

To be clear - the process is a scan of the iris, the rim around the pupil. The retina is not accessed.

I will remember to keep checking but there are 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids under 7) so trying to find that many in a row will be tough. If there were cancellations, I would probably need to find 2 of them together and bring the kids along hoping they can go in with us.

They don't need to be together, as long as they're on the same day. Get 2 for the adults on the same day as priority.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely do that.

Depending on how young they are and how busy the office is, there's more leniency in squeezing in kids if both parents have an interview that day.

The kids are 4 & 7 years old. Hope that's young enough to be more lenient. :D

I scheduled an interview and retina scan for June 16th at the Buffalo/Fort Erie customs.
Will report back on how that went

My wife and I had our interview in Fort Erie, today. We had back to back appointments.
We were each called in individually for electronic fingerprints, Iris scan and Information review. (They asked me about some trips to Turkey and Romania) No big deal.
We then went to an office next door, where we were interviewed together. First by Canadian customs and then by American customs. It was really an information session. How things work at the border, airport and driving across. They were very pleasant and helpful. They had visual and video aids. What not to do. I didn't have any more questions. We were out of there in 50 minutes.

I had my interview and it was completely painless. I went to the Pearson Airport location and walked into the office and signed in. I was 25 minutes early and not 2 minutes after i had arrived i was called up. I was a bit shocked. This definitely wasn't the doctor's office.. i was thrown off. HAHA.

The CDN officer was extremely nice and had this giant smile and seemed to love his job. When i finally sat down i met the American officer. He definitely looked like he wanted to kill someone. :) It was a joint interview as they both sat behind computers and asked questions. The only one was "why i wanted the pass". Everything else just verifying information and explaining a few things. I had my fingerprints taken and my iris scanned and i was out of there before my actual interview slot time.

Just waiting for card in the mail now.

Process started April 21st and completed June 15th. Not too shabby.

Longshot question but has anyone actually been approved over the weekend? I mean someone checked end of day Friday and still in "Pending Reveiw" but checked Sunday and was conditionally approved.

Here is the chronology of my NEXUS application, start to finish.

May 5, 2015 on line application for my wife and myself on GOES.com
June 1, Conditional approval
June 16, First available appointment for Iris scan and interview in Fort Erie/Buffalo
June 17, Approval notification appeared on GOES.com. Accepted!
June 20, Received NEXUS Card in the mail. Went on GOES.com and validated card.
46 days total.
I hope this helps, It seems like it took forever. Give yourself plenty of time if you are going to use on a trip.

I imagine his or her background check would take quite some time. You know, on account of how far back through history they need to go :)..
