As with most things associated with governmental processes, not much makes sense.

Submitted application on 7/19 so based on others' recent DP, it look like I should receive decision on my application sometime 3-4 weeks later (I suspect that it's summer season, and alot of employees are on summer vacation, etc).
However, submitting application shouldn't impact my upcoming foreign travel in early September right?

Submitted renewal on June 24 and it was approved on July 24 without an interview requirement. Not sure why it took longer than others but I had several international trips.

Approved without an additional interview
Paid : 6/26
Approved : 7/24
Expires : Feb, 2024
Took almost a month, and (hopefully) approved without an interview.
While I was in a Guam in last week, my application was still pending. I was afraid that if additional interview is needed, I should plan a another trip to US. It takes sufficient time and money!
I suggest that if you're not a US citizen or lpr, and want to renew your Global Entry, take your time and act fast.

Spouse submitted renewal request 7/7; heard nothing and checked website on 7/23; conditionally approved but required interview. Fortunately an interview slot opened up 7/24 - had interview; now approved and waiting for renewal card in mail. Agents at LAX were surprised an interview was required; but spouse travels to China quite a bit with 10 year visa, so that might have triggered an interview requirement. When I renewed mine in May I was approved almost within a week without interview requirement. But I haven't had any travel to China for some time now, and have no active visa for China.

My application:
Applied 6/26/18
Approved 7/26/18 No Interview Required
Spouse's application
Applied 6/26/18
Conditionally Approved 7/26/18 Interview Required
No idea why one is approved and one is conditionally approved.

It seems almost random on the spousal interview requirement. My wife and I have similar int'l trips, and I needed a renewal interview and she didn't. Others have reported the same. I wouldn't try to over analyze it. Going in for the renewal is a bit of a hassle, but it's a modest hassle as long as you live near a Global Entry office (or will be flying to one).

Similar travel history's. I've been with him on his trips but I take one additional international trip without him each year. Both retired in the last 5 years - we retired at the same time. The interview is a hassle for him since the closest interview location is 2 hours away. No trips planned that we can combine with the interview.

Husband: Changed jobs
Wife: No change in jobs
Wife: Approved without Interview.
Husband: Approved after Interview

Applied for renewal 2018-07-21 1:58 PM Pacific Daylight Time.
Approved 2018-07-25 8:35 PM Pacific Daylight Time.
For what it is worth, I'm a male, so there is no gender bias in my case.
Approved 2018-07-25 8:35 PM Pacific Daylight Time.
We are pleased to inform you that your U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Global Entry program membership has been approved. You can begin using the program immediately.

Well,if you were actually trying to use the interview process to keep America safe, you probably WOULD question more males than females, because males are far more likely to do violent things. But I'm a little skeptical that the Feds are truly profiling. Have any wives been called into the office when their husbands have been given automatic renewals? Were their travels similar?
