My husband renewed his Global pass about 3 - 4 months ago. Still processing. In the meantime he renewed his passport and got the new one within 4 weeks. We updated his Global Pass renewal site with the new Passport info when he got the new passport. Still nothing. I renewed my Global pass last month and got my renewal approved within 24 hours. New Global Pass card arrived with 10 days. So - I am very confused and not sure what to do. My husband used the contact on the GP site and got an auto response saying it could be up to 12 months to receive a renewal?????
Any advice?

Unfortunately, this is very common. Take a look at some of the posts upthread and you'll see many people reporting that theirs took 12-13 months to process. My husband and I have the same experience that you do. My husband applied for renewal in March, 2023, and his is still processing. I applied in November, 2023, and mine was approved within 48 hours.

The good news is that your husband's membership is automatically extended for 12 months past its expiration date as long as he applied for renewal before it expired. At this point there is nothing for you to do. You'll just have to wait until it's processed.

Data Points: (all apps/renewals online in the same portal from the same IP address)
Initial GE Application: 2010 at IAD - took less than 30 days each including interview for myself, hubby, minor daughter
First renewals: 2015 - hubby - no interview required, daughter no interview required, both completed within 30 days, new cards in mail within a couple of weeks. Mine was approved within 30 days, then had to do interview at Otay Mesa CA center - took a few weeks to get appointment, my new card was handed to me at the center.
Second renewals: 2020 - hubby - no interview, approved/got new card within 30 days. Daughter - no interview, approved/got new card within 6 months. Me - took 10 months, no interview, got card 30+ days after approval AFTER I CALLED.
Third renewals: 2024 - after 2020, made calendar notes to file renewals online 1 day after our birthdays in 2023. Husband- (April) got approval and new card in mail in 2 weeks, no interview. Daughter (August)- approved within 30 days, never got new card. Me - only applied in October, but still "Pending Review". I guess I'll check on it next Christmas...

Notes: Husband has a government clearance, maybe this helps. He has traveled for work to a lot more "questionable" countries than I have including Taiwan, Malaysia, etc. We mostly travel together, never to "questionable" countries anyway. Our daughter has only come with us occasionally. As of 2020 renewal she was no longer a minor, AND she was not born in the US (we were).

As for algorithms, in 2020 I could see it as random, now not so much, as there is a clear pattern here. If my membership doesn't actually expire til 2026, that's fine, BUT I will be doing some international travel and hope that my expired card will still count (e.g., UK, Australia).

Also - I have to get my passport renewed by April, as a couple of places we will travel to in Fall in 2024 require 3-6 months beyond passport expiration to get a tourist visa (it expires Oct 2024), and I have heard it's now taking 8 weeks even for expedited renewals. QUESTION: Should I update passport info in the portal as soon as I get the new one? Or wait til after the old one expires to change it online?

This is the first time GE & Passport renewals coincide in the same year - wondering if I will be in limbo til 2026...

Lastly, a Q for the group: wondering if females get caught in the manual review algorithm more because we usually have a couple of name changes due to marriages & divorces?

Data Points...

Thanks for the detailed data points, and welcome to FlyerTalk!

In short, it's impossible to predict renewal timelines, and applications and renewals have spread the gamut from within a day to over a year. I've monitored this thread since its inception, and there is no correlation or consensus as to whose application will be fast tracked and whose will languish in the pending review process for months. There have been cases where people have had a single W-2 job, only traveled to Canada, haven't had any name or address changes and not as much as a parking ticket sit and wait for months next to someone who couchsurfs, generates income via freelance work, and visited all of the 'stans and Iran for tourism whose application is approved in 72 hours.

The data points are still useful, however, to assess general trends in the timeline for renewals.

According to the Current US passport wait? (Merged Threads) in the USA forum, passport processing timelines are back to normal, four weeks for standard applications and two weeks for expedited applications.

Second renewal- applied January 2 and approved January 4.

Data point:
I submitted my online renewal on 4 Jan 2024 and was notified this morning (6 Jan 2024) that I was approved.

For context, I've had Global Entry since 2013, and this is my second renewal. I was a little nervous about being approved, as the process seemed a lot more detailed than the last time I renewed (it seemed like there were a lot more questions to answer this time, but maybe I'm forgetting). Additionally, I made a lot of updates in my renewal (changed my mailing address since I had moved, I noted that I do not need to add a car, I added my drivers license, etc.)

Good luck to everyone!

As my three children have had their renewals come up starting about 2 1/2 years ago, i’ve applied for renewal and had such a mixed bag. My oldest got approved quickly with no need for an interview, my youngest took over a year and required an interview, and my middle child is seemingly stuck in pending mode since November 2021. Yes that’s approaching almost 2 1/2 years. I’ve had to go out get him pre-check because he’s now too old to get in as a companion to an adult. I called in October and filed a case so they would investigate. was told I would hear back in something completely random like 13 to 19 weeks. Still crickets and had to use MPC app with him yesterday when we reentered the US.

Waiting on renewal since 9 months. Entered at JFK this week and GE machine snapped pic, went ahead and officer told me he does not have me - had to be processed manually. GE is still active, renewal is pending.
Officer to who processed manually said everything checks out, not sure what the issue is with global entry. Has anyone else had trouble with the new machines with a renewal pending?

I had issues with GE machine not working for me even after a successful renewal, so this might just be JFK issues or a temporary issue - like you, the officer just told me my GE is fine and I should continue using it.

Doing my third renewal tomorrow. Do have an interview this time. Hopefully the turnaround is fast after that. I remember my initial back in 2007 at IAH when it was like a pilot test program at three airports. The program has certainly grown and changed in over 15 years.
