If I just appear in CLT at the Global Entry office, is there a best time (and a worst time to avoid) to try to just do a walk-in interview? I assume that if I appear when the office first opens on a Tuesday-Thursday, I'm most likely to be taken?

In addition, do I need to go through security to get to the Global Entry office in CLT?

Thanks.

I can't find a decent interview time for me, can I just show up to the airport early and hope to be a walk-in?

Yes, and almost certainly succeed.

Reports are actually pretty mixed.

Experience with walk-ins at SFO (and is the the place for GE questions?)

Not sure if we're seeing thread drift or an inappropriately-named thread. The thread is titled "TSA PreCheck for United Airlines Passengers [2014]" but nearly all recent posts deal with Global Entry.

Is this where Global Entry posts should be placed, or should they be sent elsewhere?

If this is the place, then I've got a question. ;)
My wife was conditionally approved (sounds like a phone solicitor telling you you've won a free weekend in Vegas!) but the next available appointments are in... January! The only place near us is SFO; not really anyplace else to go. She's not the most-patient person in the world so I'm a bit hesitant to suggest she just show up as a walk-in. Any recent experiences with walk-ins at SFO?

I was in a similar situation with my interview not for months. If she keeps checking in GOES, chances are that an interview in a favorable fine slot will open up.

While not SFO I had the same situation here and also no reasonable alternative. Since you have to at least set an appointment within 30 days I went ahead and picked one of the distant dates. I checked back just about every morning and earlier and earlier time slots became available and I kept getting better slots. Guess I changed my appointment three times this way until I caught one that was just a week out. Apparently some interview offices are more flexible than others but the SAT office did apparently allow walk-ins as they had a log at the window. Here the process took all of five minutes, took me longer to park and walk to and from the office than the actual "interview".....which was nothing more than looking at my passport and asking me if my address was still the same as on the application.

Yes, depends on location.

If other folks are asking about IAD (maybe it was just OP), be aware that there is also a downtown DC location at the Reagan Center for interviews. Should work for locals and anyone here for a trip.

My whole family and I got walk-in interviews at DFW on an August Friday afternoon a year ago. As we signed the appointment log, we were sternly told that we "might not be seen" because our appointments were not for that day. We then cooled our heels on one of the benches outside for just over an hour until someone late-showed for their slot. Twenty minutes later we were done.

Good Idea.

Anyone get a walk-in appointment at MSP for GE Interview?

I did a boneheaded move - scheduled a 14:45 interview on 10/30 a few weeks ago and just figured out that means 2:45pm - duh. I wanted 1:45pm because I have a 3:00pm connector in MSP. I had to reschedule to 11/13 since that was the next opening available with my travels - but I was thinking of walking-in on 10/30 between my flights (will be in MSP from about 12:30pm - 2:15pm). Anyone have luck with a walk-in appointment at MSP?

No experience myself. I would recommend to keep checking the schedule. You can make changes up to T-24 online. After that you can call the MSP office to try and change. I was able to get my interview 2.5 weeks earlier just by watching the calendar.

I just called and they said they do not talk walk-ins... Oh well, will keep scanning the openings to see if one pops up! Thanks.

Has anyone tried a GE Interview walk in at PHL?

The next available GE interview appointment at PHL is in June but I have a long layover there early next month on a Saturday so I was wondering how realistic it is to get in and make it worth going back through security for the connection. Based on everything I'm reading in this forum, I'll continue to check the interview schedule online daily, hoping for an opening but I want to have a game plan in case that doesn't happen. Thanks!
