Cancellations happen all the time. check daily and you should be able to find and opening. I had a scheduled appointment at JFK that I ended up missing due to a flight that went mechanical, causing me to overnight. When I arrived at JFK the next day, I just walked in and they took me no problem

I just did a walk in for mine. Waited just over an hour before they called me in for the "interview". Worked out well as I had nothing else to do during the 4.5 hour layover I was in that airport for. It was interesting from a people-watching point of view.

Do a mileage run and schedule your appointment at ANC. I was able to schedule an appointment the next day after getting the go-ahed from CBP and the schedule was wide, wide, wide open, they even took me in early and I was out before my original appointment time.

1. Very common to have months long waits, only to find slots for the next day when a cancellation comes in. You can simply check every day.

2. Most sites take walk-ins, but the wait depends on noshows.

My parents actually have appointments for the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I may have my have tag along with them and see if they can do all three at the same time.

Thank you for posting the information about interview times here at ANC, alaskathryn.

I'm applying for Global Entry, did a search trying to find out how long the waiting time is at various locations and found your post purely by luck. It was just what I needed.

Thanks! ^

I just tried to walk in at the ATL office today and was unsuccessful. My advice is that if you are trying to walk in, just assume that your chances are going to be pretty low. Like most of my experiences with government workers I was left with a less than stellar impression.
Things not to expect on your visit:
- Eye contact. When talking to a CBP agent behind a window, they will do everything in their power to not look at or acknowledge you. When finally forced to acknowledge you, they will act as if taking their eyes of their computer screen could possibly cause it to blow up.
- Smiles. These people either hate their jobs with a passion, or they have been told that showing any form of joy or pleasantry to a tax paying citizen is tantamount to murder.
- Reasoned answers to questions. They stonewall any attempt to politely ask questions.
Hopefully you will encounter CBP agents that don't fit this mold!

Global Entry Enrollment -- Walk Ins?

At JFK, I arrived 15 mins early and was taken immediately. I asked about walk-ins and they said most facilities don't accept them, but they do. You may have to wait a little but they have no issue trying to squeeze people in. Also- everyone in the enrollment center was friendly and courteous.

I showed up 45 minutes early for my LAX GE interview 12 months ago (I seriously mis-judged the traffic) and I was taken early. I think I was done 30 minutes before my scheduled time.

I know several people who have walked in to the ATL airport office without an appointment and have been processed. Seems to be very hit or miss with regard to which agents are there and whether or not they will take you.

When I went for my interview, there was a walk-in waiting there. The next agent came out and said she was going to take the walk-in but took me first, as I had a scheduled appointment. When I came out (literally about 6 minutes later), the walk-in was walking in to get processed.

I just called SFO and the lady I talked to said that they don't do walk-ins which is unfortunate because everywhere I'm flying through either doesn't have an enrollment center or is booked when I fly.

Has anyone ever done a walk-in at SFO?

My parents walked in at JFK today and had no problem, but were told that they are stopping walk-ins in a few days. Fortunately, I was able to jump online and grab one of their 11/30 appointments just after they were cancelled.

I want to emphasize alaskathryn's previous post. If you're in a hurry it might not be a bad idea to do a mileage run to Anchorage for the interview.

My online application was completed a week ago, on 11/4. The conditional approval notification appeared in my email and in the online account this morning.

I'm scheduled for my interview the day after tomorrow, 11/13. I would have scheduled earlier but I have a conflict with my work calendar.

There's no 2 or 3 month waiting list up here in Anchorage - and the snow is beautiful this time of year.

I did a walk-in at MIA: there were 3 of us in the same boat. No problem, and was seen inside 10mins.
