The consensus on this board is that there are more frequent flyers here than anywhere else. Ergo there is more travel advice here than anywhere else. It is free. Ergo this is better than some silly newsletter.

What are AMEX MR points? Does this mean, if I need, say, 100,000 miles for a BC ticket, I can purchase 100,000 points for $0.025 per mile? An interesting strategy for other alliance travel, if possible.
Please advise. Thanks.

If you are willing to pay $2,500 for 100,000 miles there are plenty of ways to do that, while flying and taking vacations. If you want a cheap 100,000 miles it is fairly easy to get that many miles for $1,000 by flying.
With the triple miles bonuses going on right now you can fly MIA-SIN and earn 92,000 with UA (if you are elite) or 69,000 (non-elite) on a $700 ticket. That leaves you $1,800 to spend on hotels, clothes, spas and massages, and then you still have those miles when you get home after a few days of luxury.
Now if all you have is money and no time, then you can just buy miles and hope you can squeeze out enough time in the work schedule to use them.

What's the deal with "www.firstclassflyer.com"?
Is this something worth paying for? I keep getting emails from them suggesting great tips and ways to upgrade tickets and improve my frequent flyer status and it looks really enticing, but at about $25 a month I am wondering if the advice is real or if it's not something I could just as easily glean by reading the threads on this website. Anyone?

Here's a list of threads on this topic:

I subscribed for a brief period (got my money back under the guarantee) but didn't find it worth the $$, mainly because I don't fly enough to spread my miles into several elite programs. I've gotten a LOT more help here on FlyerTalk--for free.

I was thinking of subscribing, but it appears to me that much of the info is just repackaged info that can be had elsewhere. Opinions please?

Before I was regular visitor to FT, I had a subscription to firstclassflyer.com. I did benefit from one of their notifications in 2002 when KL & NW were offering business class fares to Europe for $800 over Christmas. Once I saw the wealth of information here I let my subscription to fcf drop.
