No travel related but international related. My ex-boyfriend was German. We lived together for a while and every night I would say what I thought was "good night" in German as we got into bed. He would smile big and say "yes". I always thought it was a bit of an odd response but never more than that. Now we are still friends and about a year after we broke up he laughingly told me that my pronunciation was bad and what I said every night was not good night but rather "good naked". That was the reason for the grin as he looked at me getting into bed (and yes, I sleep in the buff). LOL
night - nacht
naked - nackt

oh boy...I have a new one.
for reasons that are beyond the scope, I found myself lugging two roll-aboards and a backpack through a US subway system today. Instead of clogging up the escalator as I exited the station I decided to drag them up the stairs (for my health...yeah...thats why)
About two thirds of the way up, my right hand goes light and I turn around to realize that my bag is tumbling down the stairs while I have been left merely holding the handle of the bag. It didn't hit anyone but I looked like a complete dumba** I am sure. Had the wonderful walk of shame down the stairs to retrieve my bad and then drag it (by the support shaft) back up the stairs, out of the station and into my hotel.

6AM sometime last week, got into the taxi and left my carry-on and briefcase in my building's lobby. Luckily I realised as soon as we turned out of the driveway.

Had another good one today...
My boss skipped a final marketing meeting ahead of a meeting with a big partner. So when he finally called me I walked to an empty area for the call. He apologized for skipping the meeting and asked how it went. I (jokingly) replied, "It was fine...we decided to propose only advertising on porn sites". I was still wearing an evil smile on my face when glanced up to see, well within earshot, a family of 5 all staring at me as they slowly walked by.

During college in 2000 went to Innsbruck to ski, flew home on the Sunday where daylight savings started. We stayed up and went to a club instead of sleeping for 3 hours before catching the shuttle to Munich airport. After checking in was hungry and very tired, picked up a croissant and handed the cashier schillings forgetting I wasn't in Austria anymore. Cashier said I needed to give her more money and I insisted it was fine since 10 is greater than 5, went back and forth a few times before she finally clued in and figured out I thought I was in Austria and simply asked if I had any American money.

My contribution was when I realized after takeoff that I must have left my credit card at the gate counter (I don't remember why I had to show it there, but it doubles as my status card if that is any clue). The crew sent a message back to the airport but the reply was that there was no card. I think they even proposed to escalate the loss, but by that time I had realized the card was stored in my shirt pocket instead of my wallet...
I was too embarrassed to admit this, thanked them, and told them not to worry about the card any more. I had other cards I could use and I would contact my credit card company right after arrival.

I was sleeping onboard a Airbus 380 Business class seat on SQ. As there is a ledge just beside the window with space to place some personal items, I placed my glasses there before I slept. I woke up in the middle of the red eye flight to go to the washroom. Unfortunately the cabin lights were dimmed, and in the dark, I accidently swiped my hand over my glasses which fell in the gap between the ledge and the arm rest. I was in a bit of a panic since my spare pair was in my checked luggage, and the gap was too narrow to fit my hand through to retrieve my glasses. I was also half blind without my glasses.
In the end I had to call the FA to help. Taking off her watch, and with the help of the meal menu, she managed to fit her smaller hand into the gap to retrieve my glasses. Not too embarrassing, but I now know better not to place smaller items on that ledge.

One embarrassing moment happened in 2006, during my sole visit to India.
I was waiting to board the train somewhere in suburban Mumbai, and after watching a couple of other commuter trains slow by, I had thought I finally found a carriage with space.
I jumped on, and noticed that there were about ten women staring at me. Nice thought at first...but it was actually the female-only carriage.
Though they didn't seem to care, I quickly jumped out of it, and fell on the station platform in the process (believe the name of the station was Cotton Green). Then I got up, holding my knee, and was more or less pulled into the appropriate carriage.

Two time I went to check in at the airport when returning home and they couldn't find reservation. First time I showed up at the wrong airport (LGA instead of EWR). Second time I had accidentally booked the wrong month but the correct day. Both times I was allowed to board a flight home. Wrong airport they didn't charge me anything. Wrong month the charged me a change fee but not fare difference.

My wife took our 3 year old daughter to the mid cabin loo. She did (actually still) does not like noisy toilets. This has caused issues on airplanes and in the US where the toilets often make some fairly determined noises.
On this occasion, daughter had done her business and wife decided she may as well while there. However daughter keen to escape the flush opened the door at a rather inopportune time.... As it was mid cabin there was a chap seated just opposite the door.
