No real stories...I am one of those that likes bulkhead aisles and tries to board as soon as possible (to get the bags in close proximity). However, after the window-pax sits down, I buckle in, pull my cover down over my eyes and fall asleep for the duration of most flights, thus bypassing most of these types of stories.

I always take my shoes off on flights and depending on the weather my socks too if i'm even wearing them. I've never understood this foot paranoia- chances are your hands that touch everything are probably more dirty than your feet that have been nowhere up until then except in clean socks inside your shoes.

Early in the cell phone days, some jackass was talking on the phone...really, really, really, loud... not only that, but we was talking about his various houses and how he was making millions off of one deal, how he was sitting in first class etc, etc....lots of cursing too...
I had had a long week and a few cocktails.... I grabbed my cell phone...put it to my ear and yelled at the top of my lungs " I am very important!!!! I am in first class!!!! All on here must bow before me!!!!" I mean I screamed it.... the plane grew eerily quiet.... the people boarding stopped in their tracks.... it was an Md88... the guy kinda turns around, stands up and asks me if I have a problem.... I stand up.... my head touches the ceiling in a MD88... I have a foot and 100 lbs on this guy...not that I was gonna fight him.... I say " Yessir, I do not care about you.... I am not impressed with you... and I damn sure do not care to hear your phone conversation..." Then, everyone in first class starts clapping.... it was an epic moment in aviation history... i am glad to have been a part of it...

Oh, and a bad one on me... I was on a flight to San Juan and I stretched my arms kinda wide and my left arm went into th isle... the timing was good/bad as I touched Deltalina in her female area as she was walking to the front of the plane.... it was an honest mistake, but I think she was unhappy with me... her lips were pouty afterwards...

Emails just can't wait!
I'm noticing a recent marked increase in F cabin seatmates and near-bys who just can't wait until we are on the ground to turn on Blackberries and I-phones and Androids to collect emails. I'm really not a believer that our devices are real hazards to navigation systems in planes, but rules are rules -- and of all places where we should be concerned about interference, final approach is #1. Sure would love a strategy to seek compliance without creating a confrontation, or feeling that I'm overstepping my role as a passenger. Any suggestions?

What a timely thread. I was on a 2-hour flight in F last week. I would have to say some of the worst behavior was from the FAs. So I boarded the plane (#3 to board), but was offered a drink last (after everyone else had been offered a drink). They did not offer to take my coat (took everyone else's...had to hang up my own coat behind me). Last one to get drink after takeoff. Did not take my garbage even though I was sitting in the aisle with my newspapers in hand ready to put them in the bag (the FA walked right by me). Stuff like that just irks me, especially since I'm typically the only woman in F, and probably look like the youngest, although I'm probably not the youngest. I think the female FAs have a problem with me. I really believe they look at an attractive, successful woman and get P.O.'d. This only happens with female FA's...that same day, on an CRJ, I was #2 to board, and the female FA told me that I couldn't bring on two carryons (HUH?). She said it's a rule on smaller planes. Since when? I tried to argue that I'd never heard of this rule, and my tote bag doesn't zipper (stuff could fall out), and my briefcase had a lot of sensitive electronic equipment in it, but she wouldn't budge. I practically had to empty my briefcase...had to remove my laptop, my GPS, my iPod, my wallet, my medication, keys, snacks, etc. I had a medium-ish tote bag and a rolling briefcase. No luggage. NO ONE ELSE WAS ASKED TO GATE CHECK ANYTHING! ...! I was so ticked! I don't know if it's me or what, but the treatment I seem to get from female FAs is really getting aggravating. Either I'm doing something wrong, or...? I am usually quiet and keep to myself...
Anyway, in the aforementioned F flight, the guy sitting next to me bit his nails through the entire flight (gross). The guy across from me wiped his shoes with the complimentary blanket!!! (Note to self: do not use complimentary blankets or pillows). The guy in 2F must have sneezed and/or coughed every 20 seconds, never once covering his nose or mouth (thank God I was behind him and not in front of him). The guy across the aisle diagonally from me kept picking his ear and flicking it into the aisle. I mean, come on, people! These are supposed to be businesspeople! GROSS. I tried to keep my eyes shut when I wasn't reading or eating.
The caliber of people sitting in F has decreased exponentially as of late. Not sure what is going on, but it has become a rather unenjoyable experience. The only thing positive in it now are the roomier seats.

Regarding the window shade, whoever is sitting in the window seat gets to decide whether or not they want their shade lowered. If I'm working or reading I will always have my shade open during daylight hours, unless the sun is hitting me directly in my eyes. Plus, it gets claustrophobic after a while if all the shades are closed.
Whoever sit by the window get to control the shade to be shut or open. One time I was in UA F on the 744, I kept it open I was at 5A, lady across from me at 5E ask me to shut the shade as she said she was trying to sleep, I told her she can use her eyeshade from the amenity kit or better yet reserve window next time. I choose my window because I want to have the view and natural light, not going to sacrify the perks come from my choice of seat.
There is no right to request someone to close to shade for your enjoyment not unless the person by the window is sleeping. Whenever I sit by aisle, I had never asked anyone by the window to close or open the shade, even some of them close the shade the entire flight from take off to landing.

When people come to my house for dinner everyone takes off their shoes at the front door to keep dirt from tracking in.
i don't think feet are any more gross than hands, and probably even less so.
