A very general question:

Which version (Gold/Plat/Diamond) do I need to purchase to get the full Passenger Name Record of a 6 month past trip by the BA record locator?

Thanks!

KVS can't give you access to that. I am not sure what can.

1. What does FS- or YS+ in the Award section mean?
2. Why do I need a Flightstats membership if I connect from the Windows App but I can enter with email and S-xxxxxx code on the iPhone App?

Thanks for anybody directing me in the right way!

JohnDP: Welcome to the KVS Tool!

1. Please see http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Method_SNT_Awards_StarAlliance

2. The Mobile Companion uses a different availability engine.

Historical PNR data is not available online, but can be requested via a formal request to BA under the UK Data Protection Act (or similar legislation in other jurisdictions). The only 'Tool' required for that is your favourite word processor...

This has confirmed to be an issue with the [Awards/StarAlliance] engine and a work-around has been implemented in V5.8.0, which is now available for download.

Thanks for the altruistic advice!!
What about decoding the PNR, does the KVS Tool list some translations?

i continue to have authentication errors with the 5.8 am i the only one?

One of my biggest issues with SQ is booking a ticket where I know I'll be able to get a saver upgrade (or for the A380/77W - at least a standard upgrade). Would the KVS tool help me out here?

No, as that also requires the expertise of a real human being.

But KVS Tool is well-suited for finding solutions pro-actively during IRROPS, thus avoiding situations, where you need to request PNRs post-factum ;)

KVS and MM show diffrent avail

I was looking at ZRH-DXB Nov 2 with LX in F

KVS showed me 2 seats FS+ with Miles and More search
When I logged in with my MM Nr. and Pin on the website they only gave me economy.
I tried again at the exact same time and KVS gave me seats, MM not

This makes no sense, I attached a picture. I showed it to a friend, he also cant explain in

Just to reiterate, I'll looking at purchasing a ticket on say the AMS-SIN-SYD route but before I pay for it $$$ I want to make sure that they will give me a saver upgrade on this entire route.

Will the tool help me with that?

Doesn't help if you can't access that site. ;)

For some odd reason, and it may happen for about 30 minutes every other day, I can't reach kvstool.com. That means I can't use KVSTool (name not resolved error) nor access the website.

It appears to be an issue on my ISP's side, but it's frustrating.

Hi KVS,

If your ISP's DNS servers are causing issues, you can try using one of the publicly-available DNS servers.

You just need to keep calling back, until you get a competent agent...

While a native Mac application is currently not technologically feasible, we continue to do our best to accommodate Apple users, as described at http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Compatibility.

In addition, the KVS Tool Mobile Companion is now available an iPhone/iPad Web App: http://www.KVSTool.com/Mobile-Companion-Info.php

Turns out you do need a compentent agent but in this case both the tool and BD were correct...

Background is I have an existing redemption for which I need to change the first sector. Checking KVS showed me there was availability to do this.

First time out I phoned BD and gave them the existing booking references before asking for availability on the flight I wanted. They said there was none despite the tool saying there was and wouldn't listen any further.

This morning I called them again but this time I didn't give them the booking reference but instead went through it as though it was a new redemption. The result was there is availability. However when they loaded in my existing booking reference the availability disappeared. After discussing this with them at length and being on hold for 10 minutes they accepted there was a problem with the booking engine and they're now looking into it with the carrier directly. No resolution yet but hopefully I'm getting there.

BD explained that as the sectors are married together they're unable to change the first sector. Odd and frustrating.

KVS are you going to bring back some more methods to check availability as Sabre is too slow for me. It must download more then 1Mb to show availability. Thats fine most of the time but sometimes I am on a mobile connection so it can take ages to just check one date.

While the Sabre/GTC method is slow for the first pull, subsequent queries seem to be much faster.

Meanwhile, Sabre/FS does work much more quickly from the get go in my experience.

Did a quick search and took 1m50 secs and second search took 1min 30 secs.

You could be right but too long IMHO.

Indeed, all queries after the 1st one are faster for a number of Methods, including [Sabre: GTC] and most Award/Upgrade Availability Methods.

Those times are definitely way too excessive:

  • For [Sabre: FS], each query should take ~8 seconds (add ~3 seconds for the 1st query).
  • For [Sabre: GTC], each query should take ~20 seconds (add ~10 seconds for the 1st query)
  • For [Galileo: ETR], ~5 seconds for all queries (per requested booking class).
  • [Amadeus: Timetable] is the fastest Method, where results appear in 1-2 seconds.

Have you considered using the KVS Tool Mobile Companion, which has been specifically optimized for slow/mobile connections?

Mine is definitely taking longer. Tried it on various connections now. How about others?

Time Tests

First, I checked my connection speed at speedtest.net. I currently have download of 11.48 meg and upload of 1.09 meg.
  • For [Sabre: FS], no test as I don't have id.
  • For [Sabre: GTC], 25 seconds first test, 18 seconds second.
  • For [Galileo: ETR], 5 seconds.
  • [Amadeus: Timetable] 3 seconds each test.

Overall, in line with KVS' estimates.
