KVS - how do I found out about MPM automatically?
As per my last post of the thread,
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-c...ess-class.html any route between YOW to MIL via CPH would be over the MPM of 4076 miles. When I use the KVS tool and look at the fare rules, and the fare routing, associated with the Z fare of this route, I do not see anything directly stating that a surcharge will be applied if the MPM is exceeded, nor to do I see anywhere that the MPM is over the 4076 miles. Of course, I am not looking at the MPM section separately from the fare rules and the fare routing sections. If I did, would there be any easy way to determine that routing via CPH would exceed this route's MPM? |

This is what my AC source said, in response to your post (note- he/she has seen your post) - note, I am planning to purchase a Z fare ticket:
international fares have MPM ( maximum permitted mileages) and special fares allows specific routing like the YOW MIL permissible routing for the Z fare with a 30 days advance purchase. In the top section of the example posted you will see MPM 4704, so it is the maximum permitted mileage without having to pay a surcharge ... |

The fact that your "AC source" does not appear to be using the precise terminology makes no difference.
Once again, MPM is not applicable to Routing-Based fares and must be disregarded. |
KVS Tool Online Companion
Hi,
Can you tell me how to set up a user name and password for this please? Also - are all functions available as for the desktop version? Thanks. |
When trying to pull up Seat Availability, I get the following message:
"The requested Method is currently unavailable. If the reason(s) for the above error message are unclear, please visit www.KVStool to review the latest system status announcements." Is that what this is? [WSpan: ITN] & [Apollo: ITN] Methods Currently Unavailable 29 Jul 2010 In the meantime, elite-tier users should switch to [Sabre: ITN] or [Galileo: ETR] to ensure uninterrupted access. Further information will be posted as it becomes available. And don't know how to use those. Only a Gold user. Options or suggestions? Edit Note: I upgraded to Platinum and did not get credit for my remaining Gold time as per the website. |

In the meantime, you should have received your temporary Platinum-tier registration code and have immediate access to all of that level's features. |

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I received my Temp Authorization code. Now, exactly where do I enter that when I open the KVS Tool - or do I do that on the webpage?
Alternatively, you can click the http://www.kvstool.com/Images/Keys.gif button and select Re-Register. |

You will find your Online Companion username/password in the e-mail, which contained your membership credentials.
While the Online Companion is currently unavailable, you will soon be able to use the same username/password for the new Mobile Companion (please see the Beta sign-up link at http://www.KVSTool.com/). Can you indicate when the service will be available please? Presumably I can licence my portables and desktops in the interim? |
I can't connect to Awards/M&M - am getting messages 12029 (cannot connect) and 9002 (no data received). No problems with other access to other award methods or Sabre and internet connection test is fine.

So are you saying that the MPM information at the top of the fare box (in your previous post) is for information only, and it has no impact on the routing based fares?

Class Availabilty

Probably FlightStats: http://www.flightstats.com/go/Flight...tyByRouteEx.do Since this is apparently free to all, it would have been a good canidate to keep the Lite version going, oh well. |

Unfortunately, after 6+ years of service [2004-2010], the last remaining Lite-tier availability data source recently got decommissioned. Gold is now the new 'base' level in the KVS Tool.

Admittedly, I have not read all 81 pages (in my settings) of this thread, so this might have been discussed before, but one feature request I would have that I would really like would be sort of an auto-update function (with confirmation) so that one would not have to manually go through all stages of the download/install process for every update.

RTW Fares not showing forsome locations
Just been playing around looking at RTW fares using the Fares/DOT Res method
For both *A and OW airlines, the method fails for From: = LHR or CDG (or LON or PAR), but works for EDI and NCE  |

I have a diamond-level KVS subscription so that isn't a problem. However, the Apollo/WSpan worked better for me than Sabre or Galileo.

Well, it is a problem in that the services no longer exist. Each of the different inventory services have different details from different carriers. Losing out on Apollo or Worldspan when they had the best (or only) view of data for a specific carrier is an unfortunate development, even if there are still other tools out there with different data in them. Such is the risk taken when relying on other sources to provide data for which there is no guarantee of delivery. All of the other websites can change their feeds at any time. That's what happened here.
