Where does the KVS tool get its data and is KVS authorized to provide this data in the manner it is presented?

The tool is known to access a variety of web sites, many in a manner that is not authorized. Please see the next section of this Wiki for a list of sites believed to be accessed and their data access policies (where known).

Additionally, under some conditions the tool appears to access sites via a KVS-operated back end. This means that the tool is not just a 'web browser' that runs via a user's machine. No detailed public information is available about how this works or whether any of this back-end access is authorized.

Wow, that's a real shame. It's all well and good to 'comply with conventions' but for me this is a definite usability decrease. This tool is now much harder to use for me -- every time I look up anything.

If this were a configurable setting (even a hidden registry key -- this is only one UI element after all), that would be a definite improvement.

I have to say despite my general ^ for this tool, a great big for the unannounced, undocumented, user-hostile change.

Thanks,
-C

It was hard to imagine that such a relatively minor and inconsequential adjustment would elicit such an emotional response .

Will see what can be done with regard to making the calendar UI following the user's Regional Settings in the next version...

That would be great.

The thing is, every other calendar I look at -- outlook, printed calendars, Google calendar -- every single one -- has Sunday thru Saturday. I keep picking the wrong day of the week in KVS and literally almost booked flights for the wrong dates several times.

Hence the strong response...

I have no problem with this.^ The week starts with Monday, not Sunday, as far as I'm concerned.

Just a suggestion in the Sabre: Fares/DotRes screen, I would like a date choosing window for the Return date.

The issue of the weekday numbering is a messy one:

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunday
"Sunday (pronounced /ˈsʌndi/ or /ˈsʌndeɪ/ (listen)) is the day of the week between Saturday and Monday. In the Jewish law, Sunday is the first day of the Hebrew calendar week. In most Christian traditions it is considered the "Christian Sabbath", which is a change from seventh-day Sabbath or Jewish Shabbat.[1] For many Christians it began to take the place of Shabbat as the day set apart for the public and solemn worship of God.

Sunday is considered the first day of the week in some countries, including the United States and Japan, although today many countries such as the United Kingdom regard Sunday as the seventh day, at least in the working week and the civil week.[2]"

[..]

The official ISO 8601 Calendar Standard states that Monday is the first day of the week. In the Judaeo-Christian tradition Sunday has been considered as the first day of the week. In many countries, calendars show Monday as day 1 of the week

[..]

Christians from very early times have had differences of opinion on the question of whether Sabbath should be observed on a Saturday or a Sunday. The issue does not arise for Jews, for whom Shabbat is unquestionably on Saturday, nor for Muslims whose day of assembly (jumu'ah) is on a Friday.
In other words, there is no reason why Sunday should be considered to be the 1st day of the week for civil purposes (e.g. Sat/Sun = week-end). Furthermore, since the Christian version of the Sabbath actually falls on a Sunday (as opposed to Saturday), the 1st day of the week would be Monday (and not Sunday).

And yet most US calendars are Sunday-based...

5.1.7 no cupid and no CX upgrade?

The 5.1.6 still had CX upgrades on Cupid. 5.1.7 uses amadeus for cx award, fine. But is upgrade gone? Thanks.

CX no longer provides dedicated upgrade availability data. However, it appears that CX upgrade availability is the same as its award availability (which continues to be supported in the KVS Tool), so this may not be an issue at all...

Thanks for the answer. However, experience is that the buckets for upgrade and redemption have been different since quite a number of years ago.

It is just different then what we have been using on KVS.
I now keep clicking on the wrong date (day).
It is also now different then AA.COM and DL.COM.
I think most airlines and on line travel web sites still start on a Sunday Calendar on their web site.
KVS should be the same.

No, just some (mostly US-based ones). And BA US website has calendars starting on Mon:
http://www.BritishAirways.com/travel...=US&eId=101001

And the calendar on the AA UK website starts on Sun:

No one on the CX board (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l#post12022618) has been able to identify a dedicated CX upgrade booking class so far ...

Edited to Add: Okay, apparently there's a new update - downloading and will advise if it fixes the problem!

Sabre Display Time of flight problem for connections

Interesting Sabre issue
Using Sabre GTC if you select AA LAX-TPE on Jan 25th (other dates have the same issue). Look at AA 169 LAX-NRT at 11:50 am depart 16:40+1 arrival- Change to AA 5854 NRT-TPE (A JL codeshare)- Time dispalyed for depart is 00:45 with a 21:45 arrival. The real departure time is 18:45. It also displays the code share flight JL649 (if you start at LAX) with the same incorrect departure time. It will display the correct time if you just do NRT-TPE using the JL649 number.

Appolo and WSPAN will display the correct times but no flight info as AA is not supported.
