Wow, that's a real shame. It's all well and good to 'comply with conventions' but for me this is a definite usability decrease. This tool is now much harder to use for me -- every time I look up anything.
If this were a configurable setting (even a hidden registry key -- this is only one UI element after all), that would be a definite improvement.
It was hard to imagine that such a relatively minor and inconsequential adjustment would elicit such an emotional response

Will see what can be done with regard to making the calendar UI following the user's Regional Settings in the next version...
