Oops. I already canceled. Probably just as well to move on.

Cancelled my subscription and deleted my account. This was no way to treat long time loyal customers.

I am as well... I emailed them pushing back. Very dishonest of them

Can you let us know what they reply with?

Does anyone have the terms and conditions of the original offer?

Not a question of suing, but more the trust in the organization. I don't find it that sloppy and relatively clear. You can still find that offer on their own website too. If you can't own your mistakes (if that's what it is), you might not warrant my business.

Could you link that offer on their website?

The AwardWallet free tier has this too, doesn't it? It just doesn't track your flights in real time.

Didn't even notice the price increase email from awardwallet until I got the renewal email from google play earlier this week, since I originally subscribed through mobile and my next payment is in late Dec. I don't get that much out of the plus benefits to be honest, so will probably be canceling. The historical balances are cool, but often times I need to resync my accounts for whatever reason. Sometimes the trackers aren't even up to date, e.g. food credits or saks credits from amex gold/plat, so I would get expiry emails that aren't accurate.

1 year ago it was just $30/year, so it's a bit shocking that they're now charging $50/year. so the $30/year "offer" that shows up when you cancel isn't a real offer, it's just last year's price

I like to support developers for products I like - but this price hike is far too much. I locked in for the "lifetime" rate but canceled when I saw the email. $30 a year is pushing it, even though I do like Awardwallet, if $30 a year is pushing it, $50 is completely overpriced. There hasn't been huge significant changes to the product to increase the value. $10 to help them keep the lights on, I don't even think about. $50 is a no brainer to cancel unless they roll out some crazy new features. Hopefully they choose to course correct and not burn their previous loyal supporters, but I don't have high hopes.

I pushed back, don't expect to get anywhere. They are going to hide behind the terms of service and your continued use of the product with those terms:

3.1.AwardWallet publishes the prices for Services, effective at any point in time. AwardWallet reserves the right to change its pricing policy at any time, in its sole discretion.

I renewed for 5 years. Yes, it has gotten less useful over the years, but partially that is because of the limitations of the programs they are trying to track. It seemed like, bit by bit, the airlines made it more difficult for a service such as Award Wallet to track them in real time. Also, with the rise of popularity in miles and points, fraud is also on the rise. To combat fraud, my updates are often complicated by Capcha, one time passwords sent to my email, etc. That also isn't Award Wallet's fault.

Personally, I think 10 bucks a year is too cheap in this day and age... but, OTOH, $50 is too much for a service that requires lots of intervention to work properly.
I manage the accounts for my entire family, so Award Wallet has been indispensable. My hope is that they work out the kinks and the value will be there when I have to make another decision about it in 5 years!

I agree with some of your points, and even with the nostalgia of the good old days when it worked a treat. But the reality is none of these people are my personal friends, this is a business arrangement. And with the value proposition going down (i.e. they can't track most of my airline miles anymore, which is what I pay them for), it's hard to justify the fee for less increasing fivefold. I know it's not their fault, but they're just not as useful as they used to be.

I'm still on the $10/yr plan, I signed up for AW since it was in beta, and have used it ever since, and signed up when they first introduced the $5/yr plan (I think it was "donation" based at the time) back in 2011, and been on the $10/yr plan ever since it rolled out for some of the "premium" features.

For $10/year, or $15 or $20, its worth it to me. But if they jump to $50? I'm out. Might as well migrate to TripIt Pro at that point, unfortunately.

36902BRF Nov 25, 2024 6:52 pm

Like some others here I agree the $10 I was paying was really too cheap (if it worked like it used to) but the problem is AW has gotten to the point where about half the programs I use are either not supported or require some level of manual intervention. I realize most of this is out of AW's control but in its current state it isn't worth $30-$50/year to me. If it worked seamlessly like it once did then yeah absolutely. While I hope the extra funds may help them fix some of the issues but I honestly think most of it is out of their control. At this point I'll do it the old fashioned way and track things manually several times a year. No hard feelings for AW I wish them all the best and if they get better I'll be happy to pay their increased costs.

Like many others, I feel conflicted about renewing with the significant increase renewal fee.

My account just renewed last month, so I'll have almost a year to decide. Don't know how long the $30 promotional rate will last...

With everything working, and the dozens of family accounts I monitor, it'd still be a solid value. But with so many reward programs not supported, or requiring email forwarding and/or frequent intervention, will have to see.

Ditto to all others here, not really much else to say I guess! February renewal for me so will wait it out.

I think I'll go with one more year at $30 to see how the service improves.

Do you know if it charged you 30 right away or will wait till your renewal date?
