Anything I can do or should I bring it in to A Mac store?
Wireless works fine.
Thanks,
Jon

have you tried different cables?
are you sure the port is active? I think its the same in the GUI as the command line (which is what I know better)...but if you:
go into system preferences --> Network
select NETWORK PORT CONFIGURATIONS from the SHOW: drop-down
make sure everything has a check by it (or at leas the ethernet device).
then maybe as a double check:
Utilities folder --> Terminal
then type: ifconfig
see what it lists... typically the ethernet is en2 on the portables... so see if there are errors or an IP address or anything telling... or just post the entire output here.

I tried to run the diagnostics but it will not recognize it

If you choose "New" while in Network Port Configurations does it allow you to choose "Built-in Ethernet" as the port? If that shows as a choice for Port, you may be able to add it. (Just choose Built-in Ethernet, give it a name and save; if it takes you should be able to configure it.) If it doesn't show, sounds like a hardware problem.

I "had" the very same problem during the NAB show in Las Vegas last week.
It is not hardware - after a call to Apple Care, they suggested I go to to the Apple store ( I also have ProCare ) - and it was software. After they were able to determine that booting up on another HD got the ethernet to pull up an IP address, they did an "archive install" or reinstall of the OS, w/o losing any data, just passwords. ( it took about an hour ) my ethernet was up and running at the store a short time later.. ^
