Wonder if they'll bother adding MMS capability for the European launch?

Would be interested to know if it can cope with GPRS multihoming, too.

I'm sure they are already looking for their own killer phone now.

Too late for that I think. Verizon, who had first crack at the Iphone, must just be kicking themselves right now.

Yes, they are kicking themselves, but no, there will be a next killer phone, so it isnt too late. There are far too many shortcomings of both the phone and the carrier for the latter not to be the case.

The fact that she was so Texan made it so sweet. Actually though, it may have saved her from getting stuck with the phones.

There's an injuntion on Verizon bringing any new phones with 3G because of a patent dispute with Broadcom.

Verizon is said to be lobbying the White House to get it lifted, even though Broadcom was ruled by a court to have rights to the patnets Verizon is using.

As for 2.5G phones in Europe, Apple has said there are no 3G chips which are small or energy-efficient enough to work with the current form factor and battery.

Odd, I think I have a 3G phone that works in Europe. And Japan for that matter.

Odd as in odd that Verizon and Broadcom has a dispute? Or odd as in what Jobs said about form factor and 3G chip for the iPhone?

Typing a period.

So here’s what you can do, all in one motion:
  1. Touch the “.?123” key, but don’t lift your finger as the punctuation layout appears.
  2. Slide your finger a half inch onto the period or comma key, and release.

Well, I think that's really a call that only Jobs can make/decide for the iPhone. If he said existing chips doesn't meet his criteria for the iPhone, then so be it. Since we don't know what his exact requirements are, we can't really dispute his claim.

I just want to thank all who have bought the iPhone.

Reuters says unofficial numbers - 700,000 sold over the weekend, most Apple stores are now out of stock, rumors of deals with european carriers for late year roll-out, asia maybe early 2008 (china?), even jim cramer is touting the stock.

Since early Jan of this year, stock has appreciated >50%, and I haven't even jumped on the bandwagon - personally will wait for v.2 to come out. :D

Oh by the way, screw Verizon....they're arrogant, probably the worst customer service of any carrier stateside.

I think Apple is making some great stuff. I just bought a MacBook and love it. Im thinking of getting a new desktop Mac too. But there isnt an ATT phone in my future. And there probably isnt an iPhone since the more I think about it the completely locked nature of it really sort of offends me and strikes me as very anti consumer.

Actually, the polls of customer service would disagree with that. Verizon and TMobile typically fight it out for the top slot, while ATT/Cingular drags at the bottom.
