T-Mobile One is now 256Kb/sec (With free One Plus add on)

Effective Feb 17th, 2017:

If you are a new user or existing user on T-Mobile One, ensure you add the One Plus Promo Add on - it's Free and bumps up international roaming speeds to 256Kb/sec

You also get 10GB of full LTE Tethering FOR DOMESTIC/CANADA/MEXICO use - Tethering does not work for other International destinations

Your account should list at my.t-mobile.com, under Plan a Line item for T-Mobile One Plus as follows for EACH line/device:

- T-Mobile One Plus Promo: FREE (256Kb/sec + 10GB Tethering)

- T-Mobile One Plus w/Gogo Full Flight: $5, 256Kb/sec Intl data, 10GB LTE Tether, GoGo Full flight access (more than just the one hour) for Domestic GoGo airline partners, Enhanced Name Caller ID and Voicemail to Text transcription

- T-Mobile One Plus International: $25, 256Kb/sec Intl data, 10GB LTE Tether, GoGo Full flight access, Enhanced Name Caller ID, Voicemail to Text transcription, International calling package (for landline and mobile), unlimited LTE tethering*

* - Unlimited = As much as you want, but when you hit 28GB of total use on that line you will still get full speed LTE when a cell site is NOT congested, if congested you are de-prioritized to lower speeds until no congestion.

You can add the T-Mobile One Plus add ons, including the free promo *ONLY* to accounts where the plan is "T-Mobile One" labeled, cannot be added to Simple Choice or other legacy plans.

Can be added to T-Mobile tablet lines also.

You can make the change online on your own or though 611 customer service

Shady. Cannot be added to Simple Choice or other legacy plans.

I want 256k roaming!

diburning Feb 19, 2017 7:53 am

That's because Simple Choice costs less and is grandfathered in ;)

Yeah, while I would like the LTE coverage in Canada, I'm not giving up the promo add-on they had about two years ago where it was the international calling package for all lines for $15/month. (This was before the Simple Choice North America plan came out.)

Trying to get me to pay more to upgrade to the one plan I see. But no! I like my lower price more.

Wait no tethering while international roaming outside of North America?

I tethered in TPE just today.

Another reason to keep my SC plan.

With the recent changes to the One Choice plan, as well as the promotional price of $100 for 2 lines, I'm actually thinking about switching to Tmobile from AT&T.

One thing I cannot seem to find clear documentation on is the price for high speed LTE when traveling internationally if the base speed Tmobile offers with their plans isn't sufficient.

I've tried reviewing many of the URLs in the Wiki for this thread, but at this point many of them are resolving to dead URLs (I assume because Tmobile recently changed the plans)

Can any current Tmobile customers confirm the price of international LTE data passes?

Regards

Tethering isn't 'allowed' but it isn't blocked, at least, it worked for me a few months ago in Japan.

That said, I don't know why you'd want to subject yourself to tethering on a 128/256kbps connection...

International high-speed data passes are:

100 MB/1 day: $15
200 MB/1 week: $25
500 MB/2 weeks: $50

These prices are pulled from OLAM, I don't know if there's a public place to see them.

Was just on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. These are details I have noticed, please update wiki as I am new, can not edit it:
1) In Australia, the preferred/first network it would connect to would be Telstra. Telstra everything works except MMS. I tried changing all APN settings, but MMS send/receive will not work.
2) In Australia, if attempting to switch to Vodafone AU(registration), it will take many tries (at least on my nexus 6p), and it will connect with MMS working well. However, I randomly would get Emergency Calls only, and will lose data access. Best bet is to use Telstra without MMS

3) In new Zealand, Vodafone NZ seems to be the best provider. I receive LTE most of the time.

4) If vodafone is unavailable in New Zealand (in some rural areas), Spark NZ works well. Registration might take a couple tries (often 3 for me, if not wait a little then try again). Spark also gets LTE.

On the nexus 6p, I find the search for networks times out often and I have to retry. I find that disabling mobile data temporarily then airplain mode on/off allows the network list again.

Worth switching onto the One plan now? I have 3 unlimited Simple Choice lines for $140. If I'm reading correctly I can put them on One, double my tethering and pay the same. Am I missing a downside? Previously the tethering was nerfed but seems like that's all fixed now.

In a pinch, you'd be surprised how well it works.

I was on board a UA 747 this morning in TPE, waiting for it to complete boarding and push off. I don't even know what the carrier was because the name showed up in Chinese script. But it was LTE on my iPhone 6S Plus.

So I took out my iPad Air 2 and tethered to the iPhone and caught up on my emails and surfed a bit. Web pages loaded pretty fast.

How does this work? So if you have this plan oversea, you get 256KB/sec on your phone and you turn on tethering, your wife's phone get LTE speed until 10GB is used? :p

Maybe they'll run the summer promotion again? What we need is more competition from Sprint, Verizon or AT&T.

On the same boat, these new additions to the One plan are making me second-guess my Simple Choice, especially because the biggest benefit of that plan was the unlimited LTE (which is no longer a concern).
