appears not to be available at this point without contract. 4 and 4S available unlocked...but I want the 5. is that normal for new iphones? any advice? thanks |

I'm torn between the iPhone5 and the Galaxy S3. I haven't used either system before. I'm buying the iPhone first and activating. If I don't like it in 30 days, I'll swap out!

Our 3+ year old Blackberries are starting to give up the ghost and we've suffered some major CS lapses from T-Mo in the last 6-12 months or so. Plus, we've seen a bit of bill creep over the years (my fault, not T-Mo's, I know) that has pretty much made our T-Mo bill nearly equal to projected Verizon bill with two new iPhones. While I've always appreciated T-Mo's cheap turn-on/turn-off international email (formerly all data) roaming, I'll miss it when we switch over (likely to Verizon) to iPhone 5. Don't know when T-Mobile will roll that out though. They may not keep low pricing if they put up an expensive new network. |
thanks...but I need it for foreign travel so neither carrier will help. I'll see what happens in coming weeks after the initial clamor dies down...if it does : )

Obviously software, services and UX are not part of Samsung's core competency, which is why they copied Apple, producing 150-page document comparing Apple and their implementation of the UI and UX. So that's why the Galaxy S3 touts S-Cloud, S-Voice, etc. Blatant copies of iOS features. Samsung has been producing phones for longer so of course they've produced patents for 3G and now 4G (though LG has double the number of LTE patents apparently). But for incorporating those patents into the ITU standard, they promised to accept FRAND terms. Now they're suing Apple with those, because they have nothing in the way of UI and UX patents, which are the secret sauce that makes smart phones sell. Remember the Samsung Blackjack? That's from when they were copying Blackberry just before the iPhone came out. Hey if Samsung used all their LTE patents to make a LTE version of the Blackjack, would they sell a lot of those? It's a good thing for them Google came along and decided to copy Apple. The original Android plans were also focused around making Blackberry clones. |
