Not until it works with Tmobile USA and my cheap internet plan.

Hardware is a reasonable incremental improvement, but iOS 6 is the real let down. Maps may have potential for the future, but the 3D feature that they make so much of is only available in major US cities currently.

unlocked current iphones are usually $649 in the base size, so that's a $100 reduction. Though we don't know what the unlocked price of the iphone 5 will be. I'm guessing $649 for the base size.

I don't think unlocked was ever available for CDMA at purchase time, just GSM.
(though vzw and I guess sprint will unlock the gsm side after some time as a customer in good standing with them.) -David |

According to the apple store website, the only version for an unlocked iPhone 4s is 16gb and on AT&T....no longer available through them for Verizon or Sprint. And the price is $549
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/hom...phone/iphone4s I don't recall the original 4s prices but I see it's priced higher at bestbuy, @ $699? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Apple%26...t_desc=REPLACE |
Do we know whether the new iPhone 5 maintains the old SIM or goes with a Nano SIM. All the prerelease stuff said nano, but the picture I saw looked like a micro.

Vz for sure did sell factory unlocked version. And I just chatted with Vz on-line CS and they quoted 'old/current' prices. They said adjustment would be made once iPhone actually releases, so I guess must wait till Sept 21 to see if they reduce their iphone 4s to $549.

Yep. My 4 is stating to show its age a bit and unlocked iPhones still sell for a decent price on fleabay. Now if AT&T would process my unlock request.....

Other than its Lightning connector, 4G LTE, bigger screen and a 1.2 MP front camera, it doesn't really differ in a big way to the 4S.
it's almost exactly the same. |
The XPRT is the only Android phone that's ever made it through, and that was touted with the same "enterprise-class security", so this new one may make it. TMobile just won't work for me though. |

My 3GS seems pretty outdated. Might have to spring for something. |

So other than a much faster cellular networking, faster WiFi networking, bigger screen, higher resolution, better color presentation, better cameras, new OS with hundreds of features, a processor that's twice as fast, more memory, thinner, lighter, smaller connector, longer battery life, video stabilization, additional microphones, better wideband speakers, cellular video-conferencing, and new earbuds...
it's almost exactly the same. sign me up ! |

The title of the thread is "IPhone 5- whose getting one?" Many people are answering that they do not intend to get one, largely due to lack of innovation compared to some Samsung phones.
Would it be rude to point out the title should be "IPhone 5- who's getting one?" |
Instinctively, I'm underwhelmed by the iPhone5 and the iOS6 (the absence of easy access to the toggle switches for wifi/bt is starting to get mildly annoying). And might consider either sticking to my iPhone 4 for another year, or grab a SGSIII / HTC equivalent for a year.
Need to do more research and see if my instincts are right. |
