it's almost exactly the same.

You do realize that many of those features are OS related and will be available to anyone that can upgrade to iOS6?

Oh, and dear iPhone users - welcome to the world of fragmentation you always mocked Android for.

The same Apple ID, and I think you can probably let it restore from the iphone 4 backup, but since you are keeping both you will want separate backups.

This is perfect. Thank you

I'm up for upgrade on Sprint now. The release of the iPhone 5 now has me sort of looking at the 4S. It's already at $50 with a 2-yr re-up...probably soon to be $0.

I've been pretty happy with my Galaxy S. My other option is probably to stick it out for the next round of Androids to come out and then get an S3.

At some point I'd like to organize my media around a cohesive ecosystem...that's what had me looking at Apple to begin with. But lately I've been thinking a bit more about Amazon and just staying with Android for phones.

Mrs. jsnydcsa and I have been with T-Mo since the Voicestream days we've wanted iPhone's for some time and were longing for T-Mo to join the fold.

Our 3+ year old Blackberries are starting to give up the ghost and we've suffered some major CS lapses from T-Mo in the last 6-12 months or so. Plus, we've seen a bit of bill creep over the years (my fault, not T-Mo's, I know) that has pretty much made our T-Mo bill nearly equal to projected Verizon bill with two new iPhones.

While I've always appreciated T-Mo's cheap turn-on/turn-off international email (formerly all data) roaming, I'll miss it when we switch over (likely to Verizon) to iPhone 5.

Pre-order online starting September 14.

Hi, anybody know what TIME pre-ordering starts on the 14th?
If its same time as the 4S, then it'll be midnight pacific time. Just need confirmation.

They apparently have enough cash to last a year and a half, I don't think it's an issue. Their delays were inexcusable, but I think they've learned from that.

I got the new Bold earlier this year and will keep it until the new BB comes out in March or April of 2013.

Clearly the people who choose to work at Foxconn do so because it improves upon their current situation.

Please explain, what fragmentation?

Lightning = mistake

I can't help but think that Apple is making a huge mistake with the new connector. Some people have gone along with Apple the last few years - perhaps not thinking too much about it - buying a new iPhone every other generation. Along the way, they've bought chargers, docks, alarm clocks, and other accessories that have tied them closer and closer to the Apple tree.

Now, along comes the new connector, all the accessories are instantly obsolete* and they have to buy all new ones.

Isn't this the perfect reason for those people to consider another, non-Apple, line of phones? If they have to buy all new accessories anyway, why not open the door wide?

*Yes, I know you can buy a converter for $30. But who's going to do that for a charger that cost $5?

I do admit the cord this is a pretty big issue for me. I have a sweet dock that holds and charges my IPAD and Iphone4. Now I have to have the connector to use it. then I need one for the car, and need one for the bathroom as I charge it while getting ready for work and listening to Iheartradio. It will be a major pain. I know I will misplace it and its one more cord I have to travel with. One for the Ipad, one for the Iphone 5. Don't like it.

I agree, I think they made a huge mistake. One of the reasons I will probably switch is that I don't want to get rid of my Ipad and I like that the two sync togeher if I switched phones that would not happen. I don't want to have to get a new tablet and a new phone. Another big reason that I stick with Apple is the customer service. They are so good about replacing things with new with little effort. There is not an Adroid store you can walk in to and talk to experts on the product and get help when you need it.

12:01 PST. I also just heard that unlocked phones will not be on sale at this time. I called Apple to confirm and they said they do not have any information on unlocked phones.

I will probably be getting one - but that's because it really is time to upgrade my 3GS.

It amazes me though how offended people get if you like/don't like a particular piece of technology - as if it's a personal affront to somebody that I like my iPhone instead of wanting a Samsung.

Last time around you couldn't get them online initially, but you could get them in the stores on day 1. (if you were willing to do that.)
