IPhone 5- who is getting one?
Today is the day. I am a bit excited as I still have the IPhone 4 and am so ready for a new Phone. I think it will be the IPhone 5 so anxious to see the big unveiling this morning.
Who is getting one and locked or unlocked? |
|
Unless it's not what we all expect, I'll be ordering one. My BB is past the two-year contract, and no Android phones meet my firm;s security requirements. With BB, iPhone, and Windows as my options, I think I'll finally need to give in.
|
I'm due for a new phone, but I could never bring myself to take the massive step backwards that buying the iPhone 5 will likely entail.

The Galaxy S Relay 4G is also a SAFE™ (Samsung Approved for Enterprise)-designated device that offers a full portfolio of enterprise-ready features and capabilities. Samsung SAFE offers comprehensive IT Policy support for top-tier mobile device management (MDM) solutions, on-device AES-256 bit encryption, and enhanced support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync®, as well as integrated support for a range of virtual private network solutions. |
Not me unless it shows up with something that no one else has. I have the current version. While I like the precision of the device very much. I really, really do not like the way it is locked down and restricted. I am going back to the Android world.
|
Not me unless i can get it for less than 50 bucks (not likely).
|
not me, too expensive for my taste
|
Very tempting, let's wait for pricing. Love my Android though.

I don't see the point upgrading. There will be those that 'need the latest version' but for the rest wait and see. Also point to remember is DATA plans, unless your lucky enough to still have unlimited date (i do thank god) you could get burned come statement day.

Wonder if the unlocked variety will be more expensive than when the 4S released? |
No thanks, not after I've seen Apples lawsuit tactics and the patents they've been hoarding.
Plus with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 dropping in October-December it's a no brainer. 5.5" screen /drool. A lot of iphone users I know are switching to the Note 2 when it comes out, spec wise it's amazing and it's not as locked down as the iphone is. |

Whose getting one and locked or unlocked? Siri's response, I $#|+ you not: "The one you're holding." Okay, then I don't need to upgrade. Siriously. |
Ready to order but want the unlocked one - sure hope that's available right away instead of the wait. Time to ditch AT&T/Verizon - my iPhone 4 contract is up; prepaid, here I come :)
|
"There are some great enhancements to the phone app, including the ability to send an SMS or iMessage back if you can't take the call." Signed, Ice Cream Sandwich :D |

LTE and 4" screen are about the only new things on it. Letterboxing older apps has to be the dumbest thing they have done in the design department in a long time.
I was hoping for something actually revolutionary, but they had nothing. Of course, that won't stop people from buying them like crazy. |
Just watched the presentation online.
The phone itself looks physically attractive. However, besides a taller screen and faster processor, there isn't much to the phone. Not a significant upgrade from the 4 or 4S. |
I plan to upgrade our two iPhone4. I like the new features of the iPhone5. Since my two-year contract was up on 11 Sep 12, I was able to get ATT to unlock my current phones.
|
Thunderbolt and Lightning are quite possibly the two stupidest names I've seen for ports. What's next? Quantum? Wormhole?
Honorable mention goes to EarPods. Really? |
Question: did Steve Jobs ever tout that their latest product incarnation was "the best we've ever done"?

I think most of you meant to post in some other thread than the "who's getting one" thread.
You're all too funny. You couldn't wait to start posting about it, thus adding to the buzz, intentional or not. :D -David |
I am underwhelmed. Clearly the era of smartphone innovation is over. It is off to the commodity market. As Amazon has noted the profit is in the razor blades now, not the razor. I just wonder how soon it will be before all smartphones are free.

iPhone 4s unlocked only on AT&T
According to the apple store website, the only version for an unlocked iPhone 4s is 16gb and on AT&T....no longer available through them for Verizon or Sprint. And the price is $549
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/hom...phone/iphone4s I don't recall the original 4s prices but I see it's priced higher at bestbuy, @ $699? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Apple%26...t_desc=REPLACE |
Wow, so much childish hate over a phone that nobody is making you buy. Glad we have a competitive market with lots of innovation that continues to benefit consumers. ^
I have a pretty strong preference for the selection of apps on iOS and see no seriously compelling reason for an Android switch at this point in time. I'm a buyer. :) |

As a long term apple shareholder, can't wait until it tops 700 or even 1000 before the end of the year :D:D |
It's not hate, it's amusement. ;)
I wish iPhone 5 were better, because that might force Samsung to drop the price on the phone I'm going to get this fall... |

Other than its Lightning connector, 4G LTE, bigger screen and a 1.2 MP front camera, it doesn't really differ in a big way to the 4S. I think it looks visually appealing though. I love the slate color with black. Not just a glossy black anymore. There is always the "S" version next year. I'm sure next year, will be dubbed the "iPhone 5s." I'll wait for that next year if I still have a plan to get a phone. I'm pretty sure the dubbed "S" will have a slightly better camera both front and back, a slightly better processorm etc. The first ones usually suck and have some flaws anyways.
|
I think when my contract is up next May, I'll stick to Android and possibly an HTC phone unless Blackberry can pull a rabbit out of the hat with BB10.

Could I do that on both these phones and still account same apps/music photos, etc! With iCloud sync! |
