Naw...the rampant homonym errors fit the meme of the Apple fanboy perfectly. :D :D :D

a bit annoying that they couldn't package LTE for all the bands in there - I'd like a phone that can do what it does in the USA as well as it does back home in Australia.

I'm not crazy on the screen size change, I liked that everything was the same aspect ratio. I would've happily taken all the other goodies and had them stuffed into the casing for a 4, even if it was slightly fatter (though the length change isn't all that much). Battery life increase is a plus.

If I do upgrade while it is still the 5 and not 5s, I'll be waiting for the untethered jailbreak. I'm quite happy with the 4 on iOS 4.3.3 (a few tweaks I like don't work on iOS 5)

yeah sure, same itunes account can have multiple devices, each device has a different name, the backups are separate, but they can both share the same photostream, same or different apps, same or different media or all shared through icloud, same phonebook entries, etc, etc.

So you would have MR_MAMA's iphone4 and MR_MAMA's iphone5 in itunes and in icloud for backups.

So I just need to use the same ICloud ID on both devices? Then I think will let my office buy the 5 and I can keep the 4 which is unlocked. Sweet.

Yes it would be, but thanks for pointing it out

it's almost exactly the same.

The 5 has the same resolution and pixel density [just a wider aspect ratio], the same amount of memory and storage capacity, and only the front-facing facetime camera is [slightly] improved - the main camera is the same.

I really agree with this. I wonder if Apple would have been a lot better off long term if they had licensed out iOS. Android probably would have never had a chance, and Samsung Galaxy phones would all be running Apple software. Apple probably could have controlled 90% of the global market for smartphone software, much as Microsoft dominates PCs.

The way things are going, Apple appears headed toward niche status. It's like Mac vs. Windows all over again.

Oh I agree, Apple will sell millions of these turds to drooling fanboys. :D

Apple's cachet won't last long if competitors keep leapfrogging Apple hardware. (See Samsung.) Already the Galaxy S3 has been outselling the iPhone 4S.

Correct on resolution (should have been increased pixel count)- incorrect on all the others, based on everything I've read (I didn't say anything about storage). 1GB RAM, panorama/improved noise reduction/sapphire crystal rear camera, 1.2MP front camera.

As you didn't mention them, I assume you agree with the other 14 improvements? I does say "iPhone" though - heck, just like the original one. Where's the innovation???

So the 4 month old S3 is outselling the year-old, soon to be replaced 4S? Is anyone surprised at that?

(though a quick Google shows Samsung projecting 30 million sales this year (May-Dec, 8 months), the "slowing" 4s sold 35 million last quarter (3 months))

30 million sgs3, 10 million sg note, a few million of each of several other models... Samsung far outsells Apple. The Apple meme is that choice is bad, and that's the problem with Apple.

Man, don't people have iFatigue? They keep dropping new products that are marginally better than their previous versions, and people line up to buy them. Good for them, but I'm bored with Apple. Gonna wait for the new Blackberry 10 with the keyboard, if it ever comes out.

Regardless, nothing you mention can be considered even remotely to be "innovations". Modest spec changes over the 4S - yes. Innovative - no.

The same Apple ID, and I think you can probably let it restore from the iphone 4 backup, but since you are keeping both you will want separate backups.

My 3GS seems pretty outdated. Might have to spring for something.

Me, Galileo:D.....was with a self proclaimed fanboi last night when the thing was announced and he just went "Nah - I'll stick with the 4S + mophie battery case and save my money" I was left open mouthed that he wasn't salivating at the thought and subconciously removing his credit card from his wallet.
