Alpha 2 released

I may give this one a go -- a lot of bugs fixed. Read all about it:

Downloading it as I type this out, I'll let you know if they fixed things...

Cyanogen is moving fast -- there's now an Alpha 2.1. I've downloaded it, but managed to run down the battery in my Touchpad. As soon as it recharges, I'm going to install A2.1. The availability of the uninstaller is what clinched it for me -- nothing to fear!

It's next to impossible to brick a touchpad, I've never had any issues with CM on any device so I know they are solid.

I'm tempted, but will still resist. The latest WebOS update hosed a lot of the Preware patches; thus, are at the mercy of the developers to update their patches in an timely manner.

I've just installed Alpha 2.1. I don't what else to say but, WOW!!!!!!!

It works flawlessly on my Touchpad, and rebooting into WebOS is no problem at all.

A couple of notes:

The instructions in the text file on the ACMEInstaller need some clarification:

1. When the instructions of Windows installation refer to "Terminal" it really means "command line," i.e. from the search window on the computer, type CMD to open a DOS box.

2. Make sure the ACMEInstaller is in the same directory as novacom.exe (which you will find under Palm in Programs).

3. If you're running a 64-bit version of Windows, you'll find it under Program Files (x86) and not Program Files.

4. If you want the Android Market app installed, you'll need to install using the ACMEInstaller. You can find it here: http://goo-inside.me/gapps/

I'm really excited! Even though I paid a substantial premium for my 32-gig Touchpad ($279), I now have a fast, first-rate Android table AND a WebOS tablet.

Good info - thanks. I'm thinking about putting it on mine. Just received my second one - too bad you didn't wait, I would have sold it to you for a lot less than $279. :D

Which is not to say I'm not interested in getting more. ;) I'm watching HP closely to see what becomes of the "final run" that was promised.

I was showing my Androidized Touchpad to someone today and managed to delete the shortcut to apps -- I've got no way to get to them now. I think that qualifies as a bug. ;) I'll just re-install Alpha 2.1.

What's the latest on that?

Is the patch to access (almost) all apps now included in the install?

Do you mean at the app store? Yes, though you'll have to install gapps to get access.

I was under the impression that the last run went to HP employees and the public was SOL.

That is my best guess, too. I think the odds of HP selling any more TouchPads to the public are slim.

Ok, I just gave it a shot using these instructions, which were really easy: http://liliputing.com/2011/10/how-to...nogenmod7.html
