Ice Cream Sandwich is now fully functional
An independent developer has released a patch that works with the latest "nightly" release of CM9 and provides full video functionality. It works fine with Skype and other video-based apps.
You can get the patch here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36499-hp-...by-dorregaray/ I've installed it on mine and it works great. |
Just saw this yesterday, too. I think I will finally take the Android plunge on my TouchPad.
I really dislike how people claim creating "a fully working CM9/CM10 build" then write the disclaimer: "camera/microphone/speakers/Skype/YouTube doesn't work." |
It all depends on what you want to do with it. For me, it's purely an entertainment device to play videos and it does really well with that. With CM9, compared to CM7, unwanted battery drain is virtually eliminated and speakers/headphones work fine. It's great the videocam is working now but that hasn't stopped me from using CM9. The lack of apps on webOS made me take the plunge a long time ago.

Did a totally noob move just now. I was having issues installing the Palm Novacom drivers when in WebOS Recovery mode. The only solution I found was to install WebOS Doctor, and I figure I could install the drivers then quit before it proceeded to wipe my TouchPad and perform a reinstall. Nope! :D Now I need to rebuild my WebOS TouchPad with all of the apps, accounts, and Preware apps. On the other hand, the Android side is awesome. |
I had to use WebOS Doctor as my first CM7 install didn't go right. It's quite painless, actually. Good luck!

I'm using this ROM...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1944556 It is fantastic. Still fiddling around with all of the settings. I'll probably help my dad install this on his TouchPad over Thanksgiving. |
One thing I noticed is that the "move app to SD card" option is there, but it's terrible. Instead, increase the size of the the internal storage to 3.5GB.
