Android SD Card Damaged - Help?
I had the problem when I first got my Nexus One with it periodically telling me my SD card was damaged and I'd need to reformat it. The card still mounts just fine in Windows, if I plug it into a card reader.
After searching around, I found that this was likely because the card had been formatted in Windows. So, I used my phone to format the card. I'm always very good about making sure to "safely remove" it in Windows and on the phone. Until tonight, I hadn't experienced the problem in quite some time.
But it's baaaaack! Does anyone know why this sort of error seems so common on Android (at least for me) and what can be done to prevent it? It's really tiresome having to copy everything off the card to my computer, format, and re-copy.
Thanks!

Have not of this personally before. First thought would be to put SD card in reader then run chkdsk.
Out of curiosity (and to help) googled your posting. Surprised to see over page after page of posting w similar issues. Suggest you try that since may be specific to your type of andriod and/or SD card.

Yeah, of course Google was the first thing I checked, but didn't find anything that looked like a fix - just page after page of people saying they had the problem.
I did run chkdsk. It found a zillion cross-linked files and repaired a bad sector. All the cross linked files were music files; I wonder if my iTunes sync program (iSyncr) is the culprit. But now, all the cross-linked files show up twice in the music player, so I'm just reformatting and resyncing.

My wife and I each got a Droid X last month. After 3 days, her sd card stopped working. The phone wouldn't recognize it, and our computers wouldn't recognize it. We just took it back to Costco where we bought it and they replaced the whole phone.

I had a similar problem with my Nexus One when I got it back in January. There were also issues with the camera. It turned out to be a defective phone. HTC sent a replacement and all problems went away.

No, sadly this is the only micro SD card I've got, though I've been meaning to upgrade to a 32 GB one. Still, this is a 16 GB card made by Sandisk that I got from either Amazon or Newegg (I forget which). So it's probably not a fake card.
Interesting. I wonder what they'd say to me? I bought mine off eBay.

Had had very good results using Kingston. Had stayed away from going more than 8GB as IT friends mentioned IF you get a "glich" then any data past that is not going to be accessible.

All the phones which are T-Mobile branded comes with the one year warranty even if you buy it thru ebay so just call them and they will check the first use date on the phone and if its less then a year they will replace the phone for free.

The Nexus One is not T-Mobile branded though. It only carries the Google and HTC logos. I don't think the plan to sell it in TMO stores ever happened. The only purchase place (in the US) was online direct from Google. Not sure what the warranty policy is.

Its sold by google exclusively but the warranty and exchange policies are in line with T-Mobile's other phones policy cause T-mobile is the only exclusive carrier which can carry nexus one.

Had this happen to me - the filesystem got corrupted. I was able to restore it.
Not sure how technically savvy you are, but in a nutshell I mounted the drive on linux machine (using a microSD to SD adapter) and ran the program fsck on it which was able to repair the filesystem and preserve my data.

It seems to me the card & host device compatibility problem that causes data/file corruption. You should try another microSD (or technically microSDHC card if more than 2GB) card from another maker and see if the same problem exists with the phone, or check with any software driver patch available from the mobile phone maker.
BTW, Sandisk, as the most well known memory card provider, has the most fake cards in the market as well, mostly in Asia.
