I now have the opposite story. I am at the SC in LAX and was walking down the row. A gentlemen asked me if I needed power and said there was one behind him. I assumed he was packing up to get on a plane but it turned out he only needed it for a second and moved to another seat to give me access to power. I have a netbook adapter that has the USB plug on the side so I only need one plug. Kudos to him.

Of course next to me is a lady charging her iPad and iPhone using up all the plugs on the next wall.

Update: Thanks to her being a loud talker and apparently having a ton of friends, I found out she is on a layover to Sydney (in Y). So I don't begrudge her one bit of powering up her toys.

I'm a big fan of this little guy:

http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPa...duct_Id=400738

Available for ~$20-$25, and gives you three outlets (two if one is an annoying wall wart), plus two USB plugs for charging phones and such.

I actually got mine from the Best Buy vending machine right outside the MSP F Delta SkyClub, but they're of course available in stores and online as well.

+1 I use this weekly during my travels and am very happy - even share my outlets at times.

Dell just had these Belkin taps for $7.99 as a one-day-special a couple of days ago. I'm glad I jumped on it!

As for hogging two outlets, it would never occur to me to even try to do it.

Another vote for a triple outlet from the dollar store. Small and cheap.

Nobody using an outlet has complained when I showed them the triple gizmo and asked if I could share the outlet.

Last week I got a new Asus UL30A laptop which claims 12-hour battery life. That should reduce my need to hunt for outlets in the future.

I carry a three-plug mini-extension that sells at Ikea for about $3 - it easily fits into a small Ziploc bag for ease of packing.

I think my Kindle also needs more power but have never tried plugging it into the usb ports, now that I think of it.

When I plugged my 9700 into the USB port, it said that there was insufficient power available for charging, and the little green light on the outlet strip started flickering.

I don't think you will find a UL tag on anything in an IKEA store.

Surprisingly , my mini-strip DOES have an UL tag.

The tag is a small square, silver-hologram type. The letters 'UL' are inside a circle, with 'C' on the outside circle left and 'US' on the outside right. Under the circle is the word 'LISTED' and just under that are the words 'RELOCATABLE POWER TAP 72KJ'

I also pack a ~9' extension cord - not just for sharing those elusive outlets in the airport, but when in a hotel room and I want to work in bed with my laptop power supply and the nearest AC outlet is across the room!

Yeah, I see those people all the time that have an iPhone plugged into the AC outlet and their Mac plugged in the other one - ummm.. how about using the USB on your computer?

Oh, you can't hear me with your headphones on....

Another vote this guy. I've had it for a couple years, works great for situations like this.

usb power?

we are traveling on us air and we really have an issue. the plane only has usb charger ports near the seats and all my stuff, laptops etc..have a regular three prong plug. what can i use to charge my stuff on the plane making use of the usb? if there something which plugs into a usb port that allows for more than one thing to be plugged into it?
thanks
