There is also a co-branded Motorola version called MotoSpeak that only works with Motorola bluetooth devices according to developer.

What it does - reads text messages to you over your bluetooth device and sends canned responses to the sender (you can modify the canned text)

Paid version allows you to hear up to 500 words, choose voice, enables voice command and some other stuff.

One bug is that it starts my media player after every call

Lots of my favorites have been mentioned, but I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Flight Director ($1.99). It's a totally addictive game that has you landing planes (don't let them crash into each other!) on Google Earth maps of real airports.

You are going to love it. We've been using it extensively to watch the World Cup over 3G on the ATT network and it has been extremely stable. Compared to SPM on my iPhone 3G it is loads better in terms of video quality from the same location on 3G.

Note that there is a free and a paid version (Australia does not get paid apps on the Android Marketplace for some odd reason. Not important enough dollarwise to bother including us?)

It's the only player I've seen on any mobile platform of note that can play Divx, AVI and MP4 video all at once. Nothing on the iphone can do this, period.

This isn't a big deal to most consumer users but it's a godsend for those of us that have ripped our DVD collections or download things off the torrent networks. Now you can simply copy files over rather than worry about transcoding and format.

This, with a 32GB microSDHC card, is HEAVEN on long trips now and one of the key "little things" that has made me turn away entirely from the iphone platform. It's unlikely Apple will ever support Divx (at least not in the next year or two), so this saves me many hours of frustrating one-off transcodes.

Which means, I can watch all my recorded programs on my DVR, plus I can watch netflix on the phone, which is awesome

Now, I just need to find a wired camera with an S-Video output that has night vision, and I am all set

Handcent SMS - I like it much better than the default Messaging.

Flashlight (flash-the-brain) came in quite handy last night during a power outage. I had tried a couple others but they really didn't work on the Nexus One. This one is pretty good.

I like TeslaLED flashlight a lot since it uses the LED and not the screen, but it only works on rooted Nexus Ones, or on non-rooted Froyo.

We do get paid Android Marketplace apps here in Australia - but perhaps it's only for Android 2.0 and up? BiziBB has a Android 1.5 phone, from memory. Mr Falconea and I have the HTC Desire which is Android 2.1. Mr Falconea has bought several apps.

Hi; What have folks found to be the best speech-to-speech language translator to use when traveling? I tried "Talk To Me Classic", and it was extremely buggy, did a poor job of understanding my words, and kept locking-up the Droid. Tried "Translate", and is better, but you seem to be only to speek to it in English (would be nice if when I ask someone in far-off spots a question, they could talk into the translator and it tells me in English what they said. Thanks in advance
