I'm working this summer at the Wake County Courthouse, I got this message from a coworker today:
Who brings one to a courthouse??
I was in line at civil courthouse and the deputy asked a girl what was in her bag, so she started pulling stuff out and pulled out a selfie stick. Deputy thought it was a weapon and she was like "it's a selfie stick". One of the younger deputies goes over and tells the old deputy that it's a safe device and that it's used to take selfies.

The latest selfie stick: the phone holder on one end, but with a spoon on the end you hold. Its purpose is to take photos of yourself while eating cereal (or soup, or anything else spoonable).

When walking along a trail, I don't recall folks carrying tripods with the legs extended. During a recent trip, I was surprised to see folks disembark a water taxi holding onto extended selfie sticks. Do folks not care if their smartphones get dropped into the bay?

I *hate* how security people in museums and what not always give me problems about my steadicam (steadycam) for being a selfie stick! This guard at the museum had the audacity to start poking on my steadicam repeatedly like an idiot on a mission and telling me I can't use my steadicam.
I don't even own a cell phone so how can I have a selfie stick. This really pisses me off that everyone I go my steadicam is confused as a selfie stick.
What is wrong with people???
Here is what one of my steadycams look like
Here is a selfie stick
How can they confuse the two?? Are steadycams that dangerous????
One security even asked me to remove my 'microphone' from my 'selfie stick'. I am like 'sir, this is not a selfie stick, and 2) that is a handle, not a microphone.
