Yeah I have people in the area sending me stuff on LINE and BBM. It's Tel Aviv style. Very, very sad.

I meant local Thai TV (Ch.3, 5, 7).

Food show, Soap opera, Entertainment gossip.

Period dramas, with ghosts.

TNN is covering the incident.

I was there yesterday! They had bomb detectors scanning cars as they came into the hotel (unrelated perhaps).

Sky is reporting that Thai police report a 2nd bomb has been defused and they suspect a 3rd.

BTW Sky is showing a video of the actual blast. It's rather poor quality though.

It's not a truck, it's a motorbike according to witnesses. There are a few videos on the link below showing the explosion:

Still shocking and bad enough, and ***** for attacking the Erawan shrine.

I am due to stay there from next weekend.

Video atop the article at about the 30 second mark shows a crater adjacent to the fence.

According to the airing of Channel News Asia, the Police is asking for translators (mentioned Chinese explicitly) and the death toll seems to be up to 15 now. Also mentionig two additional bombs, which should be defused in the next hour or so (source was police according to ChannelNewsAsia).

Watching Channel News Asia here in Taipei

We were at GHE and went to the shrine 3 weeks ago and the place was overcrowded with Chinese worshipers and picture takers.

The only video I've seen of the blast is confusing me in terms of the camera location. Though I think it was on Ratchadamri in front of the Hyatt looking north.

I thought it looked like it was under the train platform and you can see the motorcycle wreckage there as well. Reports say that one of the bombs was on a motorbike. We'll have to wait for more detailed eyewitness reports. There's always lots of Flyertalkers in Bangkok and now there are reports of 4 foreign victims.

Both the RTP chief and RTA honcho were just on TV here.

Twelve dead, 4 foreigners as of now, 1 device ( 5 Kg TNT ). Reports of other devices untrue.

Lots of speculation, some downplaying of political causes.

"UPDATE: Local reports say a second bomb has been found in front of Gaysorn shopping centre at Ratchaprasong."

Yes lots of speculation on Sky too. First they theorized that it was southern Muslims attacking the "Hindu" shrine, then someone must have told them it was a Buddhist shrine as they changed the story. That's what you get when commentators have to keep talking on and on.
