Thai Airways International Seat Configuration Overview
As seat and configuration questions are common in this forum I thought I should put together an overview with all the different seat configurations and products found on the various aircraft in the THAI fleet.

The information is presented in the following way:

Airbus 330 (15)

NB! All the old A330's with recliner seats have been retired. The entire A330 fleet now have the 2nd generation angle-lie flat seats in Business class and AVOD in both classes.

FAQ

Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.

Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.

Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.

Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

Q: Which destinations are served by wifi enabled planes?
A: Airbus A380 on routes to LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX, NRT. A330 (Only the 33H-version) on routes to PER, TPE, PVG, HKG, KIX, ICN and other intra Asian routes. A350 on routes to MEL.

All of the information above is based on seat maps from TG's own website and fleet information from planespotter(dot)com, as well as on information already available on this forum thanks to its dedicated members. Cabin views are from airliners(dot)net and jetphotos(dot)net.

Please feel free to comment if you have more information and if anything I've written is false. I appreciate all the help I can get.

And remember: There is always the possibility of being TG'ed (being subject to a last minute equipment change). Thus you never know which aircraft and configuration you will get until you actually set foot on the aircraft.

It happened twice on evening flights HKT-BKK and once on a morning flight BKK-HKT. Last time it was in 2010 so I don't recall the flight numbers but I do remember that I checked in online within two hours after check-in opened and the majority of the F cabin was still available.

low Season?
got F several times on BKK CNX (as Platinum), but was usually full with many TIP`s...

I have only managed to grab an F seat in a domestic J cabin as a non-status holder back in Nov 2005 - doing a mileage run BKK-CNX-BKK.

Never missed once TG*G. In one trip to BKK-HKT, we had me, Mrs TK, 2x TK lads, and a Thai relative all occupying F cabin seats, with some empty F seats around us and some very querulous look from those in 'regular' J seats.

That is because the 747 J-cabin layout on the main deck is quite unappealing, compared to upperdeck..

i prefer lower deck to upper any time! much more space in the Overhead bins and faster out of the plane after arrival; also usually faster service

Which seat is better?
The cabin does narrow towards the front which may impact slightly on the width of the footwell. I sat in 15K a couple months ago and thought it was just fine (plenty wide enough). 19K is supposedly wider and it (+19A) are always one of the first seats to go. I've booked 19K for my next flight in a couple weeks.

I have been in 19k and I also felt it had a bit more leg room, but not really a huge difference
the disadvantage is that you are in the second cabin (get out of plane later, sometimes noise from Y etc.)
by the way I have never experienced a aircraft switch on this route...

Thanks for your replies. Snagged 19k on 3 of the 4 flights (final destination is CAN). The other flight got 15k.

Are 11 F & E cramped seats for a couple on the 777-300 ER, BKK to ZRH?

Unless you have a specific preference for those seats, I'd strongly avoid anything in the first couple of rows, especially 11F... just too close to the galley, lots of foot traffic, bulkhead wall depressingly close in front.

18EF are supposed to be better with a storage cabinet in front. In order I'd probably go for 14, 18, 16.
