FAQ

Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.

Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.

Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.

Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

Q: Which destinations are served by wifi enabled planes?
A: Airbus A380 on routes to LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX, NRT. A330 (Only the 33H-version) on routes to PER, TPE, PVG, HKG, KIX, ICN and other intra Asian routes. A350 on routes to MEL.

All of the information above is based on seat maps from TG's own website and fleet information from planespotter(dot)com, as well as on information already available on this forum thanks to its dedicated members. Cabin views are from airliners(dot)net and jetphotos(dot)net.

Please feel free to comment if you have more information and if anything I've written is false. I appreciate all the help I can get.

And remember: There is always the possibility of being TG'ed (being subject to a last minute equipment change). Thus you never know which aircraft and configuration you will get until you actually set foot on the aircraft.

Happy flying!

Matrix ITA says 777 - no further specification
Flightradar24 says "B77W" (https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/tg922)
Flightaware says "B773" (https://de.flightaware.com/live/flight/THA922)
Flightstats says "Boeing 777-300 (Scheduled)/Boeing 777-300ER (Actual)" (http://www.flightstats.com/go/Flight...ightNumber=922)

I am confused
TG922/923 is always 77W, not regional 773.

Thanks.
The board has approved the budget for 777-200ER seat replacement. The work should begin soon. After the upgrade, those 77E will be equipped with full flat seat in Royal Silk, new IFE, and on board WiFi.

probably over 95% but I would not say always!
that's the same as well for the other European destinations, who get served by the 77W
the seat replacement for the 777-200ER will bring this probably to 100% or close to

TG Business SYD-BKK

Hi all,

Looking to fly SYD-BKK mid next year, and wondering if there's a difference in the Business class product between the 2 flights operating?

The Thai Airways booking engine shows the 2 plane types as:

TG476
Boeing 747 All Series Passenger

TG472
Boeing 747-400

Is there any noticeable difference between the Biz class product between them?

cheers!

slightly different seats, angle flat but in the end not much difference; so called 1. generation and 2. generation angle flat seats; some prefer the one, some the other
from those photos you get a impression:

Just be wary of TG924 to Munich: absolutely dreadful angled J seats upstairs in 747. Maybe this is one of the flights with no F but old F seats in the nose? I forgot to check before the flight but those didn't look like real F seats as I walked through to exit the plane ( but infinitely better than the 20 year old seats they are selling as J). Thai is selling such woeful seats at a premium over other carriers
Defies belief.

there are two types of angle flat J seats in the 747 but they are pretty similar. The big difference are the F seats, suite and "old" single full flat seats

Those old F seats in the nose might not be suites, but they're still perfeftly acceptable. Maybe the middle pairs are a bit outdated if travelling solo.

With a 10F configuration it's a very spacious cabin.

Maybe this plane for TG924 is a relic. It stood out all the more because I had just a few days prior come up from Melbourne on the 1-2-1 777...very comfortable. But the 747 to Munich was too uncomfortable for a 12 hour flight ( and strolling though the packed y cabin...horrible and the passengers looked very glum).

Absolutely no doubt the biz class on all 747s, 777-200 and non-refurbished 777-300s is sub-standard. But that doesn't necessarily carry over to F (which might look dated but still reasonably delivers). Economy has a generous 34 inch pitch.

You were lucky to have a 1-2-1 coming from MEL... the route was supposed to be A350 by now but has been subject to various aircraft substitutions including the 772 and 747.

The 1-2-1 is operating less than half the flights in some months.
