FAQ

Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.

Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.

Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.

Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

Q: Which destinations are served by wifi enabled planes?
A: Airbus A380 on routes to LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX, NRT. A330 (Only the 33H-version) on routes to PER, TPE, PVG, HKG, KIX, ICN and other intra Asian routes. A350 on routes to MEL.

All of the information above is based on seat maps from TG's own website and fleet information from planespotter(dot)com, as well as on information already available on this forum thanks to its dedicated members. Cabin views are from airliners(dot)net and jetphotos(dot)net.

Please feel free to comment if you have more information and if anything I've written is false. I appreciate all the help I can get.

And remember: There is always the possibility of being TG'ed (being subject to a last minute equipment change). Thus you never know which aircraft and configuration you will get until you actually set foot on the aircraft.

Happy flying!

I called upo TG last night, and the agent reserved me seat 32H no problem on my award ticket. My A3 Gold number was in the booking.

Do these seats have more leg-room? Is there anything better than the seats at the back?

you are faster out of the plane and can watch all the pretty girls boarding...
and I heard chances to survive a crash are better than at the back of the plane...

I am looking into booking F on TG683 HND-BKK.

Is this old or new F? Or just a lottery? I can't figure it out even though, I feel I've search around half the internet for the answer.

We are on a UA F award SYD-BKK-HKG TG476 / TG602 traveling in June.

I just realize TG has backtracked its F service on the SYD-BKK route.

TG476 is a 747, But is it still have F class or there are only 2 class service?

TG602 is only 2 class service I believe. Does BKK-HKG have 3 class service?

TG476 is a 747 with mostly suites, but as it is a day flight, even the old single seats are fine

TG602 is a 2 class flight, mainly on 777-200; there are at least two flights per day BKK HKG with 3 class, in the morning (currently A380) and in the later afternoon (747); do a search!

Thanks. We have been in the old 747 F before - I dont remember which flight though.

I already did a search on UA site - dont believe we could have same day connection to get BKK-HKG in F. There are Fs on both segments but it requires either an overnight in BKK, or worse, an overnight in BKK or HKT AND an overnight in SIN. Too long a travel time for us though to some it might be what they are looking for - free sub-24 hrs layovers ... We rather not to have that. lol.

Does TG issue PJs on daytime flight? Last time we were on the BKK-CDG flight the PJs were like XL size! But the bags made a nice pouch for your notebook. BTW, that was an unpleasant flight thanks to having a "Princess", her doggie and a 4 persons entourage on board. The front F cabin lava was blocked for her own use despite the whole A380F was full. Her entourage played cards or whatever the whole night long in the "lounge" area at the front. Purser was really stiff and border to be rude when other passengers look at the late boarding "Princess" curiously...

BTW, I recall there is a web page outside the reservation body that you can preorder meals. Would someone kindly provides the URL for that page? Thanks!

EDIT
Never mind. Found the page going thru Inflight experiences or something like that.

the flight BKK HKG is just 2.5 hours, so it does not really matter whether it is on F or J. Also on this F flight no PJ, no Rimowa kit, no Caviar...only DOM etc.
so I also would not do a overnight just to be on F as well for BKK HKG

PJ from SYD to BKK also on day flights

Exactly my thought. Much prefer to get to HKG on the same day then crash on a proper hotel bed.

Last time BKK-CDG the kit was not Rimowa but still a nice hard-side kit that we use one to store electronic gadgets and one for the GPS.

I found the pre-order page - it actually functions this time! Ordered a lamb curry chop for husband and a stir-fried lobster for me on the long haul. Then a stir-fried chili shrimp on the short flight. There is another shrimp dish but I could not figure out what the orange-color sauce is, whether it is very spicy or not. The stir-fried one does not look like in chili sauce, only a few pieces of red chili which I can discard.

just looked up your connection: you arrive 1525 in BKK and 1600 is departure to Hongkong with TG606 on a 747 with F
that's too tight for international to international connection in BKK

you could of course take the night flight from SYD and then connect to TG600 at 0800 on a A380 with F

I know. In order to connect the same day, we would need to take the TG 602.

The other option requires an overnight at BKK and we rather not want to do that. Besides, it is very hard to get up early for a 0800 departure, even if staying at the Novotel.

Hi everyone! I just made a booking from LHR to BKK. This is my first time flying on Thai. The flight is listed at 777-300 which at first I thought were the lie flats (I assumed it was a 77W) but I see they have angles flats on 300s. Are the flights to LHR the lie flat ER version, or do they alternate between the two? I probably should have checked before booking but I just assumed the LHR flights had the lie flats. Thanks.

you should look up your flight on checkmytrip (with Amadeus number) and then you will see what it is
if it is staggered seat with 4 seats in a row it is 777-300ER with full flat seats in J. if it is 2-3-2 seats in a row than it 777-300 with angle flat seats.
usually they have two flights per day one on A380 (with full flat seats in J) and the second on 777-300ER with full flat seats as well

I did that, and for now it looks like the 77W, but my trip is several months away still. This is my first time flying TG and I've heard they are very famous for equipment swaps, was just curious if the non lie flat J seats make an appearance at LHR frequently or is that a fairly safe lie flat route.
