they do not sell F tickets on the BKK ICN route, so even if you sit in a F seat, you only get J service

Indeed F is sold - ICN-BKK-ICN when the 744 is operating TG659/TG658. And it is expensive.

I mentioned to the THAI staff in Seoul if they knew that attempting to book a simple return in F ICN-BKK-ICN failed (only provided Business class options), but could be done using the multi-city tool. They acknowledged this peculiarity but didn't seemed concerned at all they this could reduce possible business for them.

I flew recently on the 744 ICN-BKK-(AKL) and will return over the weekend. No F sold outbound according to cabin crew, and I presume they carried crew capable of servicing the F cabin in the event of last minute sales.

I stand corrected! doubt that it is a strategic move to explore premium market in Korea (like they do in Japan); maybe just as they use 747 now on this route...have not seen TG F on this route during last 15 years

Quite a surprise too - I rather hoped they would not sell F and I could nestle in the F cabin.....

Worse, the 744 for TG658 on Sunday has been turned into a 773 - not that the seat would make any difference. I always get a lousy sleep on 656/658 in Y or J.

TG does not have a Problem with F passengers bring much more carry on then that, but that depends on ground staff of departing Airport...

Departing Auckland on Friday I had my carry-on weighed - 8.3 kg. No dramas from the Auckland Airport staff (i.e. not associated with any once airline). I tried looking for THAI's business class carry-on allowances and was somewhat surprised not find find any thing except a general 7kg plus a comport/handbag.

I also had 8kg of computers in a slim-line bag that the airport staff were not interest in.

I wanted to be ready to 'argue the toss' - which is hard if you can't prove you are allowed more in J as I had thought was the case.

Is there and official higher carry-on allowance for J/F pax document somewhere?

Cheers,TK
