Yes they will soon have a320/30/40/50/80 b747/77/87. Assuming the a300 and b737 will be gone in the next year or 2.

And they wonder how its a struggle to turn a profit

According SeatGuru, Thai still has six 747 that use the recliner J seats with 40 inch seat pitch. I am flying BKK-NRT red-eye on 9/26 and am kind of concerned that I won't get an angle-lie-flat J seat.... Do you guys know what routes do Thai assign these old crappy 747s??

All 747s have what would be termed angle flat seats.

You can find RELIABLE details of TG seats here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thai-...-overview.html

Seatguru cannot be relied on for anything TG. The V1 config they detail simply doesn't exist and hasn't for some time. Meanwhile they completely miss the latest config 747...going by past form they might update in about 3 years or so.

If you're after sleeping comfort you should probably hope for the 1st gen angle flat seat...the 2nd gen is not great.

I'm flying TG 472 (SYD-BKK) in early December.

From my calculations, it looks like TG 472 gets the new F 51% of the time (out of the last 50 or so flights), while TG 476 (same route, but earlier) gets the new F about 82% of the time (out of the last 125 or so flights).

I imagine one doesn't know which plane is gonna be used until the day or so before, right?

Is it safe to assume that whatever plane is operating TG471 the day before will be operating TG 472 the next day?

I wouldn't rely at all on the history...I suspect it will all change to much more use of the old F aircraft on both flights with the start of the new timetable (today?).

If the flight equipment code shows 747 or reads 747 All Series on thai site its suites. If it shows 744 or reads Boeing 747-400 om thai site its older 10 F. Sydney flights all look to be scheduled 10F at the moment. On the day things could change.

Yeah, so it seems. Thanks.

I think I may just stick with my SQ R booking via SIN, but was hoping to save the miles.

Tough to beat 40K UA for two segments in TG F.

Of course, this says nothing at all about which aircraft will actually show up at the gate.

Of course; but if they've made an operational decision to use 10F planes to SYD, the odds of getting one are greatly decreased, which matters when one plays the TG lottery

OK, so I am on TG925 from MUC-BKK on Dec 19 in First. It's a 747 I believe and according to this thread Seat Guru cannot be trusted as to its current accuracy.

So what type of First class can I expect?

According to the seat map...new 9 seat F.

Chances are good-ish.
