FAQ: Royal First Class Lounge and Royal Orchid Spa information and access.
Thought with the number of FCL and Spa questions littering this board it might be worth making a sticky with all the available information and also provide a place for members to ask their questions. Please let me know if you think it is a good idea and please let me know if any of the information I have included is wrong or if you feel anything else needs to be added.

Q: If arriving in TG F and departing in TG C the following day, will I get access to the F lounge?

A: Offically the answer is no as you need a same day ticket, however some people have been granted access in this situation. So very much a YMMV situation.

Q: If arriving in TG F and staying in BKK, is it possible to use the TG F lounge as an arrivals lounge?

A: Unfortunately this is not allowed, although exceptions have been made before. So officially it's not allowed, but there is no harm in asking.

Touch Of Silk Massage (Full body oil massage - 60 minutes for First Class only) – Ler's start your journey with a relaxing Touch of Silk full body oil massage. Delivered with the unique 'Thai touch', this massage will help to prepare your body for your onward flight by increasing blood circulation as well as relieving muscular tension and helping to provide the necessary hydration for your skin. On leaving the massage you will be left with an overall sense of well-being and total relaxation.

Neck & Shoulder Massage (30 minutes) – This is a great massage for passengers who are stressed, work at the computer too much or don't relax well. Neck and shoulder problems from routine activities are among the most common area for massage therapists to address. Using specific techniques the therapist will work to loosen tight muscles around the neck and shoulders whilst simultaneously assessing how much tension is held in the body and how best to release it. You will board your flight feeling more relaxed and a little lighter on the shoulders.

Relaxing Hand Massage (30 minutes) – Are your hands tired from all that clicking, driving, messaging and typing? If so, how about offering them a break and giving them a massage they truly deserve? By massaging the major channels/meridians of the arms and reflex points in the hands, this deep hand massage is designed to thoroughly release tension that accumulates in the hands and arms from our daily tasks. finishing with warm towels for both arms encourage muscle relaxation; this treatment can help to deliver a total sense of relaxation.

Relaxing Foot Massage (30 minutes) – Let's help prepare your feet for your onward journey, by taking the weight of them and giving them a relaxing massage that they truly deserve. Foot massage is a well-known relaxation therapy to help take care of tired feet. With the gentle touch of the therapists' hands, a sense of overall relaxation is induced. Deeper pressure by the fingers will help to stimulate your vital organs.

Spa access rules:

TG F departure = F spa access

*A F departures = No spa access

TG C departures = C spa access

*A C departures = No spa access

TG F arrival connecting to TG C = C spa access, however some people have been offered F spa access in this scenario

No guest are allowed regardless of class of travel

Q: Is it possible to book the spa treatment in advance?

A: No. You can book at First class check-in, at the FCL or the Spa itself - they will indicate the approx waiting time if more than a few minutes.

I have had some PMs from newer members who are confused by some of the abbreviations on this post. If you need help understanding them, FT has a great tool for looking up their meanings in the FT glossary.

I had a feeling it was located up the steps and on the left hand side? (when you're walking down the corridor with the F treatment rooms)

Reporting from the lounge. Came in TG F, departing int'l TG C. Was offered full body massage by lounge receptionist without me saying a thing. The spa receptionist had 30 min in her notes but adjusted without fuss.

1 hour full body massage was awesome. Best way to fall asleep. The only better thing would be if I didn't have to get up!

Lounge service is pretty spotty. Will have a trip report soon.

"The spa receptionist had 30 min in her notes but adjusted without fuss."

Do you mean that the spa receptionist have written instructions or guidelines that departing international TG C can only have 30 mins massage even though passengers arrive on TG F?

Thanks for the clarification.

arriving F connecting to C are only entitled to 30 minutes, but you may get lucky and be offered 60 minutes. There is no entitlement to the longer treatment.

I c. So that best way is still fly out of BKK in F rather than fly in to get guaranteed F class perks. Eg: SIN-BKK-NRT.

Arriving F and departing C gets you all F class perks except: (a) 30 minute massage (but you may get lucky and get 60) and (b) no buggy transfer to your connecting C flight (which you may not get even if flying F.

All other services are the same... arrival buggy and F lounge access.

Just to add my own experience from June 2014. I arrived in TG F, departing in TG C. I was offered C spa options, but I could choose 2 30 minute treatments. I asked about full body massage, but that was not allowed. In some ways this was better than the F spa experience I had on the return leg, which had a noticeably shorter treatment time (more like 40-45 minutes total) than the 2 30 minute treatments.

it really depends on the time you ask; during the peak hours later evening sometimes difficult to get full body massage even as departing F, if you get it is often shortened.
during less busy hours, they might be generous and offer arriving F/departing C more than the 30 minutes neck and shoulder or foot, such as full body or 2 times 30 minutes

Interesting option. Good to know.

She was told (by who at what time? not sure) what to provide to each guest.

Good point. The lounge was completely empty when I arrived.

The keyword is “SAME DAY” connection.

I checked with THAI Airways Singapore Airport office. (Tel: 6542 8333/4, call after 2pm)

For connecting flights at Bangkok, because Bangkok does not have overnight baggage security, we cannot check through our baggage for next day connecting flights.

Eg. SIN-BKK on TG404 (1225/1345) and BKK-NRT (0735/1545) on TG676 next day. Hence cannot take A380 Royal First Class to NRT anymore because we need to check in at BKK at 5am next morning, not enough time to spend at the lounges!!

We can check through our baggage for same day flights only, regardless number of hours.
Eg: SIN-BKK on TG402 (0740/0900) and BKK-KIX on TG622 (2330/0700+1) same day.

The SATS Premium check-in lounge at T1 (Tel: 6542 6992) allows THAI Royal Silk passengers to check in up to 6 hours before the SIN-BKK flight and they will tag Royal First Class baggage tags if your connecting flight is on Royal First Class.

That may be the case for your particular set of flights, but there are many pax who might arrive late at night and connect out early the next morning - they don't have to collect their bags and recheck - ie it is possible to have connections that are not 'same day'.

TG may not have 'long term' baggage storage facilities, but they can hold overnight if the connection is reasonable.

I have done this several times and yes, sometimes at check in they are reluctant, but if you insist, they will do
"no overnight baggage security": what complete nonsense!

it does not help much as the TG lounge in SIN only opens 2 hours before each flight
the SATS Premium check-in lounge has gone downhill recently. long queues and arrogant staff. still no priority immigration line
overall Terminal 1 in Changi sucks and I do not understand why Changi airport always gets such high rankings

After this trip, I realized airport/airline agents are no better than the infamous Citi phone agents. Everyone has a different answer. The key: if something doesn't sound right, don't take their word for it, especially if it means a burden for you. Escalate and get a second (3rd, etc) opinion. I learned this the hard way and was lucky the agent at my connecting airport was good enough to fix the mistake made by the previous agent.
