Sorry for the bump... Anyone knows the progress of the new F retrofit?

If they want to reach their traget by medio 2012, then Iguess work has started...

More in line with both questions; last month's airliner's world magazine had an article on TG's fleet renewal and they said their goal is to have consistency on C products. All long haul with have 180 degree flat seats in C and regional C will have 170 degrees of recline seats (angled lie flats).

HS-TGO is being retrofitted with AVOD in Y. This one should have been done but delayed by flood at Don Muang maintenance facility. Next would be HS-TGW, then this first retrofit program is completed.

For the 7442 retrofit program, I notice that HS-TGY has been taken out of service. Perhaps the work has started?

I still hope they can manage to configure the retrofitted 744 with full flat seats.

Anyway, even without the full flat seats on retrofitted 744, the C products look much better than previously. It is pretty much guaranteed that for the long-haul flight you will get at least the lie-flat seat.

772, 744 (7443), 345, 346: Angled lie flat version 1 (BE Aerospace seat)
77E, 773, 330 (new), 744 (formerly 7442): Angled lie flat version 2 (Sogerma seat)
77W (Jet Airways leased A/C): Full flat seat
388, 77W (TG own): Full flat seat (Sogerma Solstyst)

Could it be more consistent? You bet. But it's still quite an improvement over the current situation. Getting rid of the 7442 alone is a big step in the right direction. Hope they have second thought and find a way to equip 7442 with full flat seats!

The only aircrafts with non-flat seats in C are all operating domestic and regional flights only:
333 (the original 12 A/C)
AB6 (being retired progressively)
734

And there's more legroom on the 734 in rows 39/40 than in C.

Thanks spk for the useful update.
It seems unbelievable that a reputable airline is still installing angled lie-flat in 2012. Probably the only nonbankrupt airline with the exception of AF.

Not only LH A380. LH's entire fleet will be retrofitted to full lie flat. SK as well, it's about time.

About the article in Aircraft Interior International; here is the link for those who did not know where to look:

Start on pages 48-49 for what's interesting to this thread.

I realise this post has been dug up a few times and will no doubt continue to be so but does anyone have any idea which routes the refitted 747's with the new F suites will be used on?

Thanks

Current timetable has it on FRA (TG920/1) from 01 August as well as sporadically on MUC, MAD & FCO. Check out the Summer 2012 aircraft thread.

So no LHR? That's odd. You'd think they'd put it there regularly before MAD or FCO...

I've just booked F for LHR-BKK in October, the aircraft shown was the A346 both ways and it was on both services throughout the month. It seems like a strange change since the 747 is usually full in all classes but of course this is TG we are talking about.
