Booking F seats when a 744 is only sold as 2 class?

Looking at HKT-BKK on TG 202, a 744 sold only as two class.
Can and how does one reserve First Class cabin seats? I'm *G.
For what it's worth, I'm buying a quasi-First Class HKT-BKK-HKG ticket, connecting to EK First on their 380.

You can't reserve seats in advance on TG domestic flights.

The seats are available on a First Come First Served basis when check-in opens.

Your Gold status will allow you to have Biz lounge access at all points you pass through (LAX,BKK, CMB), it doesn't matter if you fly Eco or Biz. Also, I thought the BKK-LAX flight is at 7:30pm, why do you say it will be late at night?

Question

Well I'm a bit surprised no one on the TG lounge have put together a FAQ listing of useful threads, so here goes my question:

Is there a thread discussing the Chef on call options ex-BKK?

Thanks.

Hi payam81,

Every now and then threads such as this one pop up. But TG keep downgrading and enhancing stuff on short notice so if someone said 8 months ago the Cordon Bleu ex BKK was really nice it won't mean that the Cordon Bleu is still on offer today or that it's still edible if you went and ordered it today. TG are so inconsistent.

Ages ago TG pre-order used to be a phone/fax affair. It's now online via this link

Thanks for the explanation. It's unfortunate but you're so right. I'll update that thread after the flight with observations and photos.

EDIT: On a side note, the LAX reservations office was very pleasant to deal with in requesting seat assignments and giving the TG booking identifier to use to order BTC online.

Question

Another Q:

If arriving SIN-BKK in J (2 class service) and departing BKK-LHR in F (same PNR) with about 1:55 cnx would they automatically have a buggy waiting for you at the arrival gate or should this be requested at checkin at SIN?

Given the cavernous nature of BKK is it also possible to request a buggy from the Spa lounge to the departure gate?

Thanks

I will be very surprised if there is no one waiting for you at the gate when you arrive BKK. It won't hurt to ask while checking in at SIN though.

Thanks so I take it it's TG standard practice to have the buggy waiting then. I've only flown paid C on TG a few times this year so never paid any attention this part.

One last questions before you guys kick me out of this thread:

Who exactly are these VITs and Friends of thai that I read so much about on the TG forum? Is this a reference to off-shift employees and deadheading pilots who can fly TG F or C or something else?

Sorry am not very familiar with the Thai culture so I might be missing something.

It's a play on the cronyism and nepotism that are perceived as being a part of Thai business culture.

Where did we get this impression from ?

There used to be verifiable stories of guys checking in over 250 kgs. of luggage and not paying any surcharge for it, etc. because they sit on the board of THAI or a related company.

Personally I have not seen too much of it going on in the last few months but say 2 years ago you would seldom find TG F ex-BKK empty. During boarding some friends of friends of a cousin who used to be married to some air-force guy suddenly get pulled out of Y and walked to an F seat by the purser.

Or a guy with a police VIP escort is seen at check-in kicking and screaming to get a J or F boarding pass for his W fare ticket. That's an image we have of THAI that they're trying to get rid of.

I am just curious how you found out such a detail that police VIP guy had W fare ticket.

I specifically said that this was the going perception or image some people have that makes them complain about TIPs or VIPs on TG flights.

I quite clearly only designated the story of the board member with the 250kgs of luggage as verifiable.
