First Class pre-ordered meals

Hi all,

I'm flying TG F from BKK-CDG and was wondering if the pre-ordered meals are a better option than relying on the menu.

The flight leaves at Midnight, so I don't know if they typically serve an abbreviated meal, or the full service.

Also, does anyone know if TG is consistent with flying the 744, or do I have a chance of getting the old seating on this route.

Thanks.

BTW, is there an arrivals lounge at CDG (T3) with showers?

The Paris route does certainly risk an aircraft swap. Personally I like to pre-order and then see what else I imght like off the menu...

You got me worried, so I just used Flightstat to check the equipment flown to CDG for the past month.

Every flight was the 744, so maybe this is a fairly stable route.

Macabus,

See my trip report below for an overview of F on this route.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thai-...kok-paris.html

I've always had the new version 744, but I'm flying with them next week and having said what I just said, I'm sure I'll get the old version... In F, you should be OK thought regardless. If in C, you should cry at the thought of old 744...

TG arrives at Terminal 1. T3 is the low-cost carriers termianl. No, there are no arrival facilities as far as I know...

Always a good idea to pre-order and then select what's on the menu if it looks better. You can even ask them to serve you the pre-order meal for breakfast if you do choose the menu meal...

F seating

If I am correct TG only has the 2 seating on 747s not the 3 as before
The best is the 744 (10 seats with 6 single window seats),
the other is the 'old' 747 with 14 seats in 6 pairs along the windows
and the last pair in the middle.
Both offer full flat and are both very comfortable.^
They used to have an even older version with 18 seats in 9 pairs
(not flat) 8 pairs along the windows and one in the middle.
C is another story, as for Y........

Hi macabus, as the flight leaves after midnight, you may find the best option is to eat in the first class lounge restaurant which has full service, followed by a soothing massage, leaving you free then to sleep as soon as you board, one assumes you have had a very hard day in Bangkok. However, should you choose the on board food, the best idea is to have the choice of three offered by the FAs. The service will take about a hour or so, caviar, entrees, main, dessert, cheeses then chocolates. FFs on this run enjoy the 744, if you are on your own, prebook 1A, it is a smooth and well orchestrated procedure, and the first class experience from the checkin through to your arrival in France will be enjoyable. The FD will make the bed up for you whilst you are getting into the purple pjs, ask them to lay a blanket over the seating. Should you wish to sleep till you arrive, request they do not disturb you till descent commencement. Paris is a difficult airport, if you require a shower, ask the FC lounge captain at Bangkok to arrange an escort for you on arrival at CDG. Enjoy your flying, regards bkkrop

Yes, I find the lobster and the scallops sauce too thick, but the hell with it, I've eaten both dishes and enjoyed them. Now I choose between the 3/4 they have on board, always satisfied, regards bkkrop

I'm booked in F on TG970, BKK-ZRH. Just to confirm: if I pre-order a meal in F, I will still get to select from the menu, too, if I wish? And I can eat both meals, if I wish? Sounds good to me.

And here's something odd. Part of my trip is on LX16, ZRH-JFK, in F. The TG website seems to allow me to select my meal on the LX flight -- and the menu is indeed completely different than the offerings on TG970. Is it actually possible for me to select my LX meal on the TG website?

LX doesn't offer BTC/pre-selected meals in any class AFAIK, other than your usual dietary/religious fare.

What exactly are the options offered by TG? If there are TG options for the LX flight, that sounds more like a TG IT issue than anything else.

Any route is liable to be equipment swapped. Go for seat 1A or 1K as they don't have seatmates when they are translated to a 747 cabin.
