Just scanning some of the issues here and to be frank it seems like shocking incompetence. I run a web development company and a lot of these issues are basic and claims that the staging environment couldn't accurately replicate the production one are weak.
- You can use cache control headers as well as changing version numbers on script and stylesheet includes to force browsers to reload them - A staging environment can never be 100% the same as production but it can be 99.5% the same, and a proper pre-production UAT environment should include having the exact same server configuration (down to the operating system, web server, databases, etc) and database schema, ideally it should use a restore of the production database, though this is often not practical due to size. - Basic cross-browser testing appears to have been skipped. |

Congrats!
For Chrome users like me, are we supposed to get these horrible orange buttons? Everything is blue and white still on Chrome AFAICT. Still have the posting-returning-to-last page issue, of course. :p |

full site seems to be working on iPhone now
just noticed that that the colors in the font color palette are different: the darker bright green (“Emerald”?) is gone, as are several variations of grey/silver ... I’m really curious as to the rationale behind putting resources toward changing something relatively innocuous (and it’s ok to just fess up if it was the summer intern project), but there are so many improvements to actual functionality and the UI that remain to be addressed EDIT: OK, I know what you mean now. I missed the word "font". I'll ask about that. |

I just looked on Safari and I still have the same blue and white buttons like I do on Chrome. What are people talking about with the orange buttons and yellow highlights?

I was participating in a thread and somehow during the upgrade / maintenance window, something strange happened to the posts that were posted during a specific period of time.
See this thread (post number 857). Posts 841 - 855 are just gone. But I posted one of those and if I go to my user dashboard and click on "My Posts" and navigate to it, it loads a version of the thread that has those posts again (here's a direct link to one missing post). But every time I load it directly from subscribed threads they don't appear. Cache consistency problem? |

SIgned in / signed out. Incognito / not. Mobile / not. I just tried it on a brand new device and same thing! Maybe... some sort of CDN at play here? |

Weird... it happens on multiple devices for me. All Chrome, but different versions, etc.

CDN?
Or maybe there's something strange about all of my devices. *shrug* |

I use a malware/tracer block and now get a splash screen hiding the site for nearly a minute. Sorry but if you don't value the privacy of my identity by blocking known id trafficking sites then I'm probably not interested in this site anymore.

Did you not experience that before? I never use the IMG tags (just the file uploader), but that's how I've seen that work on forums since 10 or 20 years ago.
Not sure if my image uploader disappearance was caused by the update, but at least that is why I've never seen the outline before. |

Well, the image uploader disappeared for me with this update and I was forced to use IMG tag for the first time in ages!

Firefox 69.0 on the Mac.
I was unable to respond to any posts or send any private messages -- the reply boxes were always greyed out. If I tried to quote, the text would briefly display before the box greying out. I went into my settings and changed from WYSIWYG display to simple text, and it seems to be working for now. |

E-mail sent. |

When I select "New Mentions" ,"New Post Quotes" ,.... I first see the top of the relevant report page and in a few seconds it bounces down to the bottom and I need to scroll back
(Might be related to the added display of the info on the far right side (friends, recent visitors, ...) FF 69.0, W10, laptop, no helper apps Does not happen in other browsers |

OK, so support for the WYSIWYG editor was dropped with the update. If you switch to Full CKEditor in your options, you will have all the functions of the old WYSIWIG and more
Silly question: If it's no longer supported, why is is still an option? (And/or why didn't the Full CKEditor simply replace the WYSIWYG as the "Enhanced Interface" for anyone who had that selected, rather than just breaking usability completely?) https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...cf8fd607e0.png |
Because the other editors are part of the core software and can't easily be switched off.

My biggest issue is that after posting a reply in a thread, it takes me to the "last" page of the thread. Since I (and most frequent posters I know) have the "newest first" flag set, that means it takes me back to post #1 instead of staying with the most recent posts.
I'd also love it if you could fix the big with # - it should not automatically convert that to a link and force me to edit the reply every time I use it. |

My POST QUICK REPLY button doesn't work half the time. Oddly, it works here!

The #hashtag or #pound reading as a "website" is due to the hashtag subscriptions you can edit here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/user...shsubscription |

I have NO subscriptions; please explain how to inhibit that "functionality" so that the # symbol appears as a symbol without automatically inserting "url=https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=hashtag" and "/url" in the source code of the post

[MENTION=790438]IBJoel[/MENTION] what's the status on fixing the "post in a thread and then get returned to the oldest page of the thread instead of the most recent page" glitch? It's REALLY annoying for those of us who are most active here.

I'll ask. Keep in mind that this is only occurring for those who've switched their thread display mode to "Newest First", so it's not the default option.

As a test, I just changed that to Oldest First and back to Newest First. Same issue--I'm still returned to the oldest posts in the threads for which I post. I am not sent to the oldest posts when I select any thread, however. It's only when I POST in the thread that I am wrongly sent to the oldest post in the thread. |

So when you posted while you had "Oldest First" enabled, it took you to the first page, instead of your post?

You don't. It's meant so that if someone is subscribed, they get a notification. But also if someone wants to learn more about, say #delta or #united , they can click on it and find more posts related to that. It's similar to Twitter.

No when I changed it to Oldest First it did take me the oldest post. Though I hadn't posted at that time.

Hello!
I am one of the longtime contributors to the "Old Timer's Airline Quiz and Discussion" in the Travel Buzz section. I encountered a major problem today while composing a new set of airline quiz items. Following several hours of work, I received an error message followed by my lengthy post being completely wiped out without a trace before I had completed it. I did try to reload but no joy. Usually my posts are automatically saved as I enter them so I can then retrieve them if a problem is encountered while in progress (and this has worked great in the past). However, this did not happen this time. Is there any way I might retrieve my post in progress or will I have to start over from scratch? Very frustrating! Thanks for your assistance and advice in advance. |
I have been struggling for the last two hours trying to finish a (long) post, with pictures and everytime I add some pictures and text, it deletes what I added before. Is there now a limit of the post size ? Pretty frustrating... I am on Mac OS 10.13.6 and using Firefox 69.0
Thanks. |
