On a completely different topic, there don't seem to be any obvious links to this forum on the ft home page or under the forums menu.

That is because this forum is essentially only used for technical issues of the forum, but the forum menu is designed more for those non-members reading articles that want a "deeper dive" and regular members who read articles and just want a way to get to the forums (and usually their program of choice) quickly.

Are there specific posts that your "Like" doesn't work on? Does it work if you press it a second time? I know you said it's on different devices, but do you use a common browser for them (Safari or Chrome come to mind)?

I haven’t looked at the source code when this happened as it was a simple matter to backspace away the extra lines

IBobi Will need to test this out, as I do not have an Apple device. I have not experienced this on Chrome/Desktop (even when I copy/pasted your post).

None yet. Keep in mind that no one is in the office during weekends, but I did ask for an update from tech.

It doesn’t, but the issue is that the buttons are covered by the multitasking bar (the line at the bottom center of the screen; see my original screenshot). So if I want to go forward or backward I have to tap it once to raise it above the multitasking bar, and then again to actually click the correct button.

OK, do the FT menu buttons disappear when scrolling if you clear your cache? That they don't disappear seems to be the root of this, since that's not normal behavior. Also, do you have it set to see the newest posts first (on the first page)?

OK, so it seems like they may be a result of the page you're copying from already having those colors/formatting. Those are then copied into the text editor. It happens to me a lot when I copy/paste email press releases on other sites.

OK, I think that's enough pangrams for this post.

never enough lol

well it didn’t happen ... might have just been a one-time glitch

EDIT: my original reply had BOLD RED; I hit “Edit” and added the second line, “Select All” “Cut” “Cancel”; hit Edit again, followed by “Select All” “Paste”; red text appeared in plain type

1. No, it doesn't seem to happen on specific posts/threads

2. Not unless I exit/reenter my browser. I'm guessing clearing cache would also do the trick, but this isn't a big enough deal to justify such

3. I use Chrome on all devices for the most part

As an aside, in addition to the like button, I've experienced the same when clicking on that little blue icon that redirects from quoted posts

Curious. I can't (using Mac/Safari or iPad/Safari) access post formats such as bold from the post toolbar. This 'bold' using the keystrokes. Can't post photos either, which kills the Trip Report I'm working on!

I've rebooted etc.

HELP! :D

Go here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/prof...do=editoptions

And make sure you have "Full CKEditor" selected (and save at the bottom of the page)

That seems to have solved it! Thank you. I wonder why that decided to switch itself?

However ... I seem to have still lost the 'click and drag' image uploading capability. It just asks for a URL now. Oh, well, back to uploading through Imgur, I guess.

You'll want to click the "postcard" icon and not the "paperclip" icon. The former will grant you more file upload options.

Yes, I used that, as I have for many of my TRs. It only gives me the URL option

Anyway, I’ve uploaded to Imgur, and I’ll use that for now. Thanks anyway. ^

It should look like this, no?

Ah, it's almost working ... what I get is shown below, but even then the "From Device" button doesn't operate. And the whole thing feels flaky ... I had to type the code to get Bold!

EDIT ... rebooted with no difference, and the "Cancel" button doesn't seem to work either!
EDIT 2 ... I discover that Imgur no longer supports mobile devices, so on iPad I can’t see the image I posted! :)

Sorry for adding grief. :(

OK, I'll need a screenshot of your text editor on your iPad to try and figure out what might be the issue.

Thank, Sir. Tomorrow, if you will permit ... it’s nearly 2100, I’m old and there’s a programme on TV I want to watch! ;)

I suspect a recent flurry of Apple upgrades (IOS and Safari) may be at the root of this.

I had to host this on my SmugMug account. Firefox, Chrome, IE, and Edge are all variations of the same. Windows 10 Home 1903/18362

(I've been clicking the "postcard", not the "paperclip", for 15+ years on FT.)

Do you mean this? My main issue with with Mac/Safari, and dragging images after clicking the ‘postcard’.

(Sent from my iPad ;))

All I get (Mac/Safari) is what I showed in Post 294 ...where none of the buttons work!

But on iPad/Safari, I get what IBJoel showed at Post 293.

All devices, and Safari, are fully up to date: macOS Mojave 10.14.6, Safari 13.0.1 ... and iPad OS 12.4.1

As i noted earlier, the recent macOS and Safari updates may have created an incompatibility ... not that I know anything about IT :)

That's because you aren't using the Full CKEditor as your text editor.

What does that mean?

I haven't changed any preferences or settings on FT in at least 10 years.

I hit "Quote" to quote part of a message and reply to it, or I hit "Reply" to type a stand alone Reply. I type in the box and click on the icons that appear when I hit those buttons. Has something changed where clicking on Quote and clicking on Reply are no longer the ways to Quote or Reply to an FT message? Again, it's what I've been doing for years, and the Image dialog box has appeared ever since "enter URL" was replaced with the ability to upload a local image, 3-4 years ago, IIRC.

CKEditor in the FT Search box give "Sorry, but nothing matched your search criteria. Please try again with some different keywords.". In the Flyertalk Wiki, it gives "There were no results matching the query."

weirdness

a portion of a prior post got re-sized with no editing action on my part
(using Safari on iPhone)

what I saw when looking at the post (note the change in size also appears in the subsequent post that quotes mine)

Hello again, IBJoel. Further to my 'pictures' comments upthread, I've discovered a few more 'inabilities' relating to Mac on FT. They all relate to the interaction between the mouse pointer and on-screen buttons; however, this morning some of them seem to be fixed already!

Add Pictures. Now seems to be working as before ^
Wiki posts. Not opening when "Click here to display Full Wike" ... now working ^
Quick Reply. Was tending to delete all text whilst typing! Further test needed today!
Like. Wasn't working on Mac, but does on iPad. Now working ^

Well done ... please keep it working!! :D

* Picture added for effect and to test!

It's over a month. Is there any progress? Really annoying when on a slower connection. If you start typing before it reloads the text box it can 1)prevent it from reloading the text box, 2)cause the system not to save everything you typed when hit submit, or 3)work just fine. Very aggravating, even if #3 happens as it sucks on slower connections.

If it is caused by slower connections, there unfortunately isn't much we can do. We have already optimized page element loading with a new software. About how long does the editor hang?

Your misreading what I said. I said the issue is worse on slower connections, not that it only happens on slower connections. The page loads, the text box loads (and if quoting, quoted text loads). The text box then disappears and you have to wait for it to decide to reload. If you start typing before the box disappears and reloads then the text box may not finish reloading.
