We understand disruptive advertisements lessen the enjoyment of your FlyerTalk browsing experience. Please post all disruptive advertisement reports here; your full report (see above) will assist Internet Brands / FlyerTalk in handling these expeditiously. Admin / Tech attempts to respond to all reports speedily, but eliminating problem adverts may require communication with advertisements suppliers or devising technical solutions that may require time. (Internet Brands operates during customary and usual work hours on the U. S. West Coast; holidays, weekends, etc. are observed.)

To see how to include a screen shot in your post, once you have taken the screen shot follow the instructions "Inserting a photo or image from your device into a post:" in the first post in the thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/techn...mage-post.html

NOTE: Internet Brands and FlyerTalk discourage the use of software that modifies your FlyerTalk browsing experience (e.g. ad blocking software). IB / FT declines all responsibility for the use of such software and can not provide support or assistance if such software is used. As well, we remind you IB / FT can only provide FlyerTalk free to members because of the financial support of advertisers; using ad blockers denies IB / FT income that would normally pay for your free community membership and browsing experience..

Posts advocating, suggesting, or recommending use of ad blocking etc. software will be summarily deleted.

Seems like a pattern with URLs starting with "icard..." I have let our tech team know, thank you.

Ads causing browser slowdowns and high CPU usage

For months i have been struggling visiting Flyertalk due to the constant ad redirects and loading of stalled ad pages. When it happens it freezes my browser and unable to take a screenshot - so i won't be sending any screen shots. Here is my configuration:

2017 MacBook Pro w/ 16GB memory
Browser = Chrome

Have installed ....... now in order to load this page. Will leave this in place for now.

Been getting some popup ads that try to get me to 'upgrade my adobe flash' and download what is likely a malicious javascript file. Will try to get a screenshot next time, but its force of habit to kill the window immediately.

And shortly after I posted above, the offending malicious ad came about. It redirects the FT page to another site and tries to download a java.js file which I assume is a virus or malicious code.
Am running Win7-64 on Lenovo laptop, Firefox current version 58.0.2

The fake Amazon pop up ads are infuriating. Becoming almost ubiquitous when browsing flyertalk using safari and iOS.

I'm sorry, I cant believe that this cannot be stopped entirely by Internet Brands. I worked for a major website which earned most of its money from ads. They never would have served an ad which hijacked the users browser. Content businesses which want to keep their readers and value their own sites reputation just dont allow their users to be shown such ads.

Maybe what youre actually saying is that you cant get high enough CPMs without using an ad network which also serves these kinds of screen-hijacking ad? If so, thats a business decision but its not a bug, its a feature of the ad network youre using.

If you have been experiencing this issue, please let us know if it is still occurring as of this post -- we believe we've managed to turn it off.

Thank you,

Paul

Thus our actual post, "please let us know if it is still occurring as of this post -- we believe we've managed to turn it off."

Thanks for your report.

I'm going to tell you, ever since I loaded the AB, it's been SMOOTH sailing on FT. I don't care if this is how they get paid,

Same here. How can I post a screenshot of specific ads when every single ad on the site causes my browser to freeze up or run so slowly that the site is useless???

It's not one ad, it's the whole site. This site has essentially become unusable.

Herb, kb, what browser are you using? I know Chrome has seen a drop-off since its update, but I know IE,Safari, or Edge received no such change.

I have issues with Safari and Chrome.

I have to use "the program which must not be named" to even access the site. Otherwise, almost immediately I get the Amazon scam ad.
