Agonizingly slow again, to the point of not being useful. Took 20+ minutes to go from "My FT" to this forum to this thread to reply.
Looks like powerful/useful search may have been sacrificed with no perceivable gain.

That's what it was, a few days ago.
All they need to do is tell us with a note up top that they're (going to be) "operating". Credibility suffers when participants get frustrated and don't know what's going on.
Reminds me of our IS guys, God bless 'em (for all the times they bail me out of my fubars) who are much more comfortable with keyboards and motherboards than with people. Or maybe it's click-in and click-out count that's keeping them mum (...the credibility part).
It wasn't like this when Randy and Mikel were driving.

FT had just been timing out for me again as well - couldn't be reached for the last 20 or so minutes.

Sorry about this latest slowdown everyone. Looks like the database became overloaded again.
Kevin and the team are actively working on setting up a second db server, which should relieve the load issues. In the meantime, they have set up a routine to check every 5 minutes for load problems. The hope is this will prevent system slowdowns in the time leading up to the additional server being added.

Mikel:
It is snails pace now(if I get this t take). I am now spending less & less time on Flyer Talk & will soon be gone if you can't fix this. And I don't want to leave. Just don't know how much more I can take.

Could it possibly be a local problem this time?
In the past, when others complained about FT crawling I had the same problem. Today, I got on about 15 minutes after coachrowsey made his post (and long before oklAAhoma did) and I haven't had any delays at all.

Overall, the performance has been very good since the old search has been removed. One major problem with the database servers and a more limited one yesterday. I can now use FT most of the time, instead of being able to use it occasionnally. ^

I had some slowness this morning, but only for a few minutes. Maybe that routine is working?
