In a word, dreadful!

I do know FT is perhaps the largest BBS supported by the software, and I know there are good tech people working on this very hard - but I certainly can not do my job as Moderator, nor can I really read / contribute as a member.

I had never heard this before. As a non-techie, can I ask how other, larger IBB's operate?

Yeah, this has been bad...apologies for this. We are adding a second database server, as that is where the bottleneck is occurring. Our tech team tells me it will take a day or two to get this operational. I'll keep you updated on this.

I waited 15 minutes to post this when a reply I posted didn't for that length of time. Now I have waited 15 more minutes to get past the "Database Error" screen that's popped up repeatedly when I tried to access this one, and the reply I wrote that prompted me to come here still hasn't posted.

Last night, I inadvertently posted a comment three times over a 35 minute period when I couldn't tell if it were me (uncleared cashe? too many files? etc.) or Explorer or FT. I'm at least glad to find out that it's not something I have to fix.....

It's now 11:54am when I press "Submit Reply".

Edit: Interesting that this posted almost immediately, but the one that prompted me to come here hasn't yet.

I don't want to be rude here, but isn't running various bboards your business? Is FT just larger than any other you've taken on or busier? or why has it been so painful to get an operational site?

HOM did a great (okay, incredible) job from their small operation with the occasional time the system went *poof* on us, but I can't recall any previous period of consistently poor performance or response anywhere close to what we're dealing with here.

Sure hope this new server solves the problem

Suggestion: Do NOT try hitting your "Submit Reply" button over and over. It will only result in multiple posts.

Hit it once, and then open FT in a new window -- you may well see your post there while it appears in the original window to still be pending.

Hey, no Omni posts not counting protests going on here!

(Seriously, I know you just hit resubmit, but it's easier to open a new FT window and see if your post "took" or not.)

I've had limited success with this, unfortunately. Sometimes the post goes through, sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes the new window just hangs.

The only solution when FT is acting like that is to not use FT, unfortunately.

That's what I've been doing last night and today, actually opening another tab in Firefox in which to write the post and then reloading the original tab to see if the reply took.

I think we can be confident of this, seeing how many moderators are ringing in here, and, in particular, one of them with seven identical posts.....

By the way, what changes were made a week ago, or so?
