Impossible to get into United and Omni. Other forums are accessible, but noticeably slower than usual.

UAL Traveler May 8, 2002 10:30 am

BTW, United is still partially accessible by clicking on the View Active Topics link on the top of the FT Miles page, and then clicking on the United topics. However, the UA search feature does not work.

Update: It appears that we're getting slammed again on our server. John's looking into beefing it up and giving the machine a little more breathing room.

We may also run an archive early (instead of June) to pull some of the oldest threads out of the more popular forums, including OMNI and United.

Well, it's not just me.... good luck on the fixes, everybody.

Dan, does that "no" thread or its lack of presence in OMNI recently, have anything to do with the speed of OMNI? Is there a causal relationship?

Eastbay1K May 8, 2002 1:54 pm

Omni and United dead, the rest are slower than normal.

We think they're related because when that "NO" thread is up there, OMNI seems to function, but when it's gone, OMNI clams up again.

Although we don't know what specifically causes the NO thread to appear, viewing it from this end it appears to be a corrupted thread. When we delete it (usually by rebuilding the OMNI forum), OMNI slows to a crawl, so we've been hesitant to delete it.

noooooooooo!!!!

CO forum seems to be down too.

cblaisd May 8, 2002 8:14 pm

I'm having the same problem with the UA forum.

Another reason that I would like to again repeat my suggestion that there be a "Network Status Page" for FT that is located on another server to show when FT is wholly or partially down or substandard.

Dan and Company,

Things have been running smoothly since this morning (Central European Time).

Thanks (with crossed fingers).

cactuspete May 9, 2002 1:41 pm

Does this slowdown have anything to do with the return of FT's two most prolific posters, or is it mere coincidence? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

The entire board is very slow, and it would appear that United has thrown a wobbly again. I can't get in at all.

doc May 13, 2002 1:08 pm

While fine early this morning, it is now seriously so slow as to be essentially unusable. UA and OMNI have been down for an hour or more for many folks.

Is the addition of the ver growing growing, oh so lengthy "word association thread" in OMNI possibly a cause, at least in part?

Thanks.
