There's an issue with the Marriott ad. Trying to fix it!

This isn't abnormal behaviour (for flyertalk), but just illustrating what a pain the ads have become - 40% typical cpu usage, giving almost constant fan noise and reduced battery life.
Even the ads now have their own ads.

There does appear to be a huge memory leak, presumably in the video player. Leave it on the page for 5 minutes, and it's used more than 1gb of ram, and rising. Navigating to another page resets it.

In the other thread discussing this issue, a member indicates disabling the Flash player within Chrome will avoid this issue (as an interim solution, as IB Tech works on this issue). (At least with the Marriott forum bug.)

Thanks, JDiver. I hate to have to "cripple" my browser just to browse a site that should be fixed by now!

I agree. IB is examining and attempting to fix the issues with Marriott, so it's merely an interim solution. (I tend to have two or three browsers I use for browser compatibility and optimization (as well as other) reasons.)

Tried FT this morning about 8am PDT & couldn't access. Back online at 9:07am, but now running slow. So of course right I post it's slow it gets back to normal. I'm assuming IB got to the office this morning & turned the lights/speed back on

Cheers.

It wasn't IB or FT per se. IB handled a heavy DDoS* attack from an external source at that time.

*DDoS, or Distributed Denial of Service attack, is a type of DOS attack where multiple compromised systems, which are often infected with a Trojan, are used to target a single system causing a Denial of Service (DoS) attack. (Webopedia.)

Are folks still having issues with Chrome? FT Forums are virtually unusable for me. The front page and top stories load, however, once I hit the FT Forum every page takes 10+ seconds to load or times out completely. Firefox is totally fine. It's been at least a couple weeks now.

Using Chrome 50.0.2661.75 on Windows 7 Professional 64Bit

Chrome is suddenly lightening fast for me after weeks, if not months, of being very slow.

Yes completely unusable for me on Chrome - has been for the past couple of days. (use other forums with no problem)

Now using IE and much better (no where near as fast - have to keep "recover webpage" but at least it recovers - unlike Chrome which just times out all the time. Will try firefox next !
