Much more recently than JDiver's comment, I was advised to disable javascript. I need to load MyFlyerTalk first, then turn javascript, then cycle through each subscribed forum. Loading the forum web page is much faster than with javascript enabled, and loading the threads that I decide to read is much, much faster than with javascript enabled. The major drawback to this method is that I cannot open a wiki; I need to re-enable javascript and then reload the thread with the wiki that I want to read. Another issue is that the Forum Tools do not work if I load the forum page with javascript disabled. (I need to load MyFlyerTalk before disabling javascript so that I can mark the forum as read by double-clicking the icon to the left of the forum name.)

Same here. Crawling and with database errors.

Curious as to why this happens so very often here.

ETA: It took 32 second for the post to actually post.

It's a dated platform. Very dated. Dated scripts eventually become obsolete (similar to a computer that becomes slow after years of use.)

I'm often amazed that FT have not upgraded the forums.

Well I'm amazed that IB owns a gazillion BBs but doesn't seem to have folk working over the weekend to try to sort out problems like these.

Cheers.

That is a puzzle.

Still slow, still getting timeouts and database errors.

This is only happening (for me) after that thread in the Premium Fare Deals subforum becoming popular.

I would guess that the huge influx of users posting there and keeping an eye on it, and the constant refreshes everyone is doing as well as with the non-reg guests doing the same is taking its toll.

I think the main site is completely down now. I can get to the forums directly by not to the main site.
