I too had a recent flight ex-LHR where middle seats were blocked and instead had consoles like on LH. However, I do not know if this is an exception or if they changed the rules.

But I thought they did block the middle seats in European C on all their Airbus flights?? |
Yes, middle seat is blocked on all aircrafts except Avros as mentioned. C is like Y in terms of seat pitch ... and that is one of the reasons why I stick with Y after buying a few very short haul C class tickets.

They will also sell or upgrade passengers into 1E & 2E on the Helvetic Fokker.

The blocking of the middle seat is a myth. I have been on several mainline (319 / 320 ) flights where they were oversold so they put passengers in the centre seat in business. The chances are the middle seat will be free on an Airbus flight - but don't count on it.

On all my last flights to and from LHR also in the 319 and 320 the middle seat in C remains empty. With this empty seats all other C seats were occupied, the C cabin was complete sold out. But this were weekend flight (Sunday evening). Perhaps during the week this may be different. Friday evening was a 321-100 with the trays in the middle seats. Best regards, taigatrommel |
C cabin on the LX A330-300
Hi,
just a short question: are there any rows in the new A330-300 C compartment with blinded windows? Thank you very much! taigatrommel |

Fokker 100
operated by Helvetic (4 aircraft) and Contact Air (2 aircraft) on several European routes Layout: Helvetic resp. Contact Air ex-Germania* *subject to confirmation Seating is 2+3. Middle seats are not blocked in C-Class C/Y: 1-20, no cabin divider. Exit rows: Helvetic: 12+13 (not yet tried out whether 11+12 are reclinable or not). Contact Air: 11+12 (not yet tried out whether 10+11 are reclinable or not) (subject to confirmation - source: Airberlin.com) The seat-layout is different because of the location of the galley. Best seats: rows 2-5 extra legspace Avoid: 20: next to the engines Also, a seatmap of the Helvetic Fokker 100 can be found here: Link |
What seats would you recommend for me and my SO travelling ZRH-JFK and back in F? I'm not sure if I prefer row 1 or row 2.

Seat selection for two in F on A340
My partner and I are booked on LX161 NRT-ZRH in F for January. I had a look on ExpertFlyer last night and the only available seats are 2D, 2G and 2K. 1D and 1G are occupied and the others are blocked (I presume for M&M elites). Would it be better to request 2D/G, or 2G/K? Looking through previous threads on the subject I initially thought that 2D/G would work best but having seen a few photos of the cabin it looks like 2G/K would actually be closer together because of the twin consoles and dividing screen between 2D/G, but that might be just the angle that the photos were taken that is deceiving me.
We want to be able to have the odd conversation with each other and are more bothered about having that facility than we are about being able to watch the clouds sail by for twelve hours. Any thoughts? |

I'd pick 2G/K ... partner and I previously booked 2D/G but shifted in flight as the centre module is wider than expected. 2A is always reserved as crew rest FYI. Enjoy that wonderful LX F experience no matter where you sit :-)
