Which seats on A340 F are best for people traveling together?

For 2 people traveling together in LX F on an A340 would one window and one center or 2 center seats be best? Anything interesting to see out the window into JNB in the morning?

The best seats will be 2 D & 2 G if they are not so concerend with looking out of the window.

There is, of course, the option of just booking two seats that are either one infront of the other, or one across the aisle from the other (i.e. 1A and 2A, or 2A and 2D) - if it is a night flight then you will probably spend most of it sleeping anyway, so you can eat together on the window seat and sleep in your respective seats :)

Hello as posted on the BMI forum, I have just successfully changed from NH C to LX F. :) Called the airline to request my seat but unfortunately I was told that no window seat was available. I checked expedia's seat map and there seems to be one free in row two. Has anyone else experienced this discrepancy?

Did you ask for a 'window seat' or did you ask for 'seat 2K'? I ask because I find increasingly that telephone agents don't automatically know which seats are which, despite it seeming quite obvious.

Expertflyer shows 1A, 2A and 2K as blocked, 1G, 2D, 2G and 2K as available. 1D appears to be the only occupied seat.

Hello baggegeinhall, thanks for your reply. I did ask for a window seat. Sorry, but did you mean to say that seat 2K is available or blocked? I take it 2K is a window seat? Thanks for your help:)

1A, 1K, 2A and 2K are single window seats. As for now, only 2K is occupied and the flight is F7 A7 => F is nearly empty.

In case YUL will be operated by an A332 then definetly not as there are no plans to upgrade any A332's for the time being as it is not evne clear if any A332's will remain in the LX fleet. Nevertheless there are rumours that YUL could be one of the first new A333 destinations so if this would be true your chances are higher to experience the new C product of LX

I'm considering YUL-ZRH in mid-late August as part of a redemption booking in C . Can anyone confirm the status of the YUL A333 rumours?

As we need 3 C seats, AC is out. Alternatives include DTW-FRA, ORD-DUS - can anyone advise how LH C on these services would compare to A332 LX C?

Well by the end of the month we moight know more on how the first A333's will be deployed this year. By Mid August there might be already 4 A333's in the fleet so lets see where they will go too. Service wise LH and LX would probably be simmilar, maybe LX is even a bit mroe personal. However when it comes to seating you ahve the cradle seat in the A332' which is 10 years old and an IFE that doesn't work properly anymore. WIth LH you have a very comfortable lie flat bed hence definetly LH in case it's an A332 of LX

I will be flying ZHR-YUL on May 5, '09 and am also hoping for a new A333. Otherwise, looks like I am stuck with an old a332 business seat.

It is been like this since LX withdrew the MD 11 on YUL route and I am feed up with the outdated biz class product of LX on YUL route.

At least the A332 C Class is better than the one from the MD11 ;) Well in less than 1 year we will see the A333 probably on the YUL route

Hi all,

I have to agree with LH/LX.

I flew YUL-ZRH on Friday in C and it was like being thrown back in time 20 years.

I swear there was still the old ashtray fitting on the right side of the seat.

As for the IFE - well, any Asian economy passengers would think they were visiting a museum.

I think closer to departure or at check-in you should be able to get a window seat. A colleague once told me that window seats in F on LX are blocked for SEN/HON.

I had exactly the same issue: Three out of four seats blocked, one free on expertflyer. So, I called and also got the answer that no window seats are available. Thus, I said, I would try my luck at the airport then and they should not assign me a seat. But the operator must have entered a seat preference at that time to my booking because shortly after my call both of the non-Swiss flights on that itinerary showed up with confirmed window seats on checkmytrip (and I hadn't called any of those airlines or requested any seats there). In line with my request, there is no seat assignment for the Swiss F flight on checkmytrip. However, when checking back on expertflyer five minutes after my call seat 1A had changed from being blocked to being occupied. So, I am optimistic that I will get a window seat assigned at the airport.
